Chapter 27: Talking to Glen
I snapped my eyes open and quickly shot up. I was gasping for air and I was looking around to see where I was. I realized I was safe and sound in my bed, in my very own bedroom. The sunlight was shining in my room through my window, so it must of been already warning.I let out a sigh and ran my fingers through my hair. I laid back down and just starred up at the ceiling. I began to remember back to my dream and wonder who exactly Stitch was. Was he real? If so, what exactly was he doing in my dreams? If he wasn't real, then how did I dream of him? How did I dream of such a character like him? Maybe it was Uncle Freddy playing a trick on me. Yeah, it had to be Uncle Freddy because there are sometimes he like's to play with my dreams. Damn Uncle Freddy.
"Ash!", I heard someone yell as they knocked on my door.
I turned my head and then saw my door knob turn. The door swung open and Uncle Michael came in.
"Hey, are you ok? I heard you screaming", he asked concerned.
I nodded my head. "Yeah, just had a nightmare was all, no big deal."
Uncle Michael understood. "Well, breakfast is done if you want any."
"Thanks." I nodded my head in reply. Uncle Michael gave me one more last look and walked out, shutting the door behind him. I let out another sigh with a groan following after that. I really didn't feel like getting up. For some reason, I began to get a headache. I haven't had them in a while unless I was stressed out. Maybe a couple pills will take the pain away. I threw the covers off of me and slowly got up. I walked over towards my bathroom and walked in. I scanned through the medicine to find what I was looking for. So far, I only found cold medicine and a few bags of cough drops. Maybe Aunt Esther took my pills for that one day when she had a headache and never gave them back.
I walked out of the bathroom and exited out my room. I past Glen's room. His door was open and I could see out the corner of my eye him laying down on his bed, reading a magazine and listening to his ipod. I walked a couple more doors down and stopped at Esther's room. I knocked on the door a couple times, but no answer came. She must of been down stairs with the others at breakfast. I really didn't feel like going downstairs though, so instead, I went to the closets person I could find: Glen. I walked all the way back to Glen's room and knocked on the door.
He looked up from his magazine and smiled as he saw me. He wiggled his fingers, motioning for me to come inside. I walked into the room and watched as he pulled his ear buds out and put his ipod to the side along with his magazine.
"Was sup Ash?", Glen smiled.
"You got some Tylenol or something? I have an headache."
Glen thought for a moment and then got up and walked into his bathroom. I didn't follow him. I just stood in the same spot and looked around his room. His room was messy and clothes were scattered everyone on the floor along with some magazines, papers and opened bags of chips. I was grossed out at the sighting and then suddenly, Glen came back with a bottle of pills.
"There's only a few left, but you can have them.", he said with a smile.
I thanked him and took the last two pills into the palm into my hand then dumped them in my mouth. I swallowed them without water and sighed. Glen seemed shocked when I did this.
"You can swallow pills without water?", he asked.
I nodded and wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. "Yeah, why?"
"Don't they like, get stuck in the back of your throat or something?"
I nodded. "Yeah, sometimes, it depends on how big the pills are. Since these pills were small, I can swallow them easily."
Glen nodded. "Wow, you got guts. I be scared to swallow a pill without water. You know people can die from swallowing pills right?"
I thought for a moment and shook my head. "No, but I did hear that people can die from an overdose on pills. Just like Marilyn Monroe did."
Glen chuckled and shook his head. "I'm for real though, people can die from swallowing pills without water. I seen it on this one show called, 'One Thousand Ways To Die'. You should watch that show, they show you many ways how people can die and that just ain't using a gun and a knife either."
I laughed at Glen and shook my head in disbelief. I swear, Glen could be a nerd at some times.
"Seriously Glen, I never really heard of a person dying from swallowing pills. They can die from an overdoes, but not by swallowing."
"Ok fine, don't believe me, but don't say I didn't tell ya."
I rolled my eyes and spun on my heel and went to walk out.
"Hey wait!", Glen said, grabbing my wrist.
I turned around to meet his eyes and saw him pointing at his bed.
"Why don't you stay and chill with me for a while. We haven't been hanging out that much like we use too.", Glen chuckled.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Sure, I don't really feel like going downstairs and eating breakfast anyway."
"Not hungry?", Glen laughed.
I shook my head. "Nope. I'm just really tired is all. I went to bed late this morning and...well, I didn't sleep well."
I was about to tell Glen that I had a nightmare, but luckily I caught myself. I didn't want to tell Glen that I had a nightmare because then he was going to start asking annoying questions and I had to answer them.
"Yeah, I heard you came in late last night. What as all that about?"
I thought for a moment and sighed. Great. Out of all the questions he had to ask, he had to ask that one. Well, besides Uncle Boogey and Uncle Creepers, I had nobody else to talk to about how I felt about Mary and my dad going away on his honeymoon. I had to talk to somebody else; somebody that would give me advice on what to do.
I let out a long sigh and told Glen everything; everything that started from yesterday at Heaven's Garden up until my nightmare. Yeah, I decided to tell Glen about my nightmare at least to get it out the way. Glen was a very good listener and understood where I was coming from and all. He sometimes would stop me to ask a question, but other than that, he understood and listened inventively.
Once I told Glen everything, I let out another sigh and laid back on his bed. He laid beside me and we both were starring up at the ceiling in silence. Glen was taking in everything that I told him and I was just thinking about that Stitch guy. Who the hell was he anyway? I even asked Glen if maybe it was one of Uncle Freddy's tricks or something. Glen agreed with me and told me that maybe it was Uncle Freddy. Like I said, Uncle Freddy did like to enter my dreams once in a while and joke around with me. Ain't no telling who or what Uncle Freddy would be in people's dreams.
"So...", Glen finally spoke. "You really did kill some teenagers last night?"
Without a word, I nodded my head.
"Man.", Glen breathed. "Wish I was there. And you took them all out by yourself?"
Again, I nodded without a word.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Glen smile and crossed his arms behind his head. We laid down in silence for a couple minutes longer until Uncle Chucky appeared in the room, munching on a piece of bacon.
"What you two dweebs doing?", he asked.
"Talking.", Glen replied, propping himself up on his elbows.
I sat up also and rested back against the headboard.
"You two can talk later. Right now breakfast is done and you kids should eat."
I raised an eyebrow. "I thought breakfast was done twenty minutes ago?"
"It was." Uncle Chucky laughed. "But there's still more food left for the two of you and Esther and Tiff kept it warm for you guys."
I nodded my head and suddenly felt my stomach growl. I was hungry now and I began to wonder if Glen was too. I didn't even need to ask Glen if he was hungry, his stomach did the talking for that. Glen's stomach growled out loud and this caused Uncle Chucky to laugh his ass off. I looked at Glen whose cheeks flushed red from embarrassment. I giggled softly and nudge Glen in the side.
"Let's go eat before we starve."
Glen nodded in agreement and we both got up and made our way downstairs. We walked into the dining room where laughter and talking was heard. Surprisingly, the family was still here all seated. Glen and I departed and went to take our seats. I sat down beside my father and Uncle Pinhead. I looked from my plate and over towards my dad. He didn't seem to notice my presence because he was too fixed on Mary as she babbled about only Hell knows what. I turned to Uncle Pinhead, who was talking to his wife Kirsty in a low manner. I sighed and looked back down at my plate full of scrambled eggs with sausage and cheese. I ate my breakfast in silence. I would sometimes look down across the table to see if Glen was looking at me, but he was too involved with his food as he gobbled it down.
Once I was finished with my breakfast, I stood up from the table, tucked my chair back in and walked away. No one didn't say anything, they all were talking away about who knows what. I walked out of the dining room and walked back up the stairs. I decided to get changed and go outside for the day. It looked nice and beautiful out. I didn't have a headache anymore and maybe getting some fresh air would do me good.
