I'm a very confusing person and I'm a Muslim but my mom's family is Catholic but I am into science and many things are confusing me and I keep on doing bad stuff because I try to figure out things that are not for my age or some other crazy stuff and nobody understands me because of my weirdness and I feel like and outsider but hey that's life and I'm fine even See More I'm still suffer things and I don't tell these to my parent cuz I'll cause more trouble to my family and life
@new_girl_in_town @sparklygielforever Actually, there are Free-range Christians, who believe in/love Jesus, but do not go along with teachings in the Bible. You can love Jesus/God without reading the Bible.
So, yea, I do believe in all of those things which is why I can state I am Christian. Also, again, I am not confused and that is why I put the "sorta." I know I'm not fully but I believe in about 75% of the Christian faith the other 25% being my own beliefs. Also, I have a religious mother and have attended church before so don't feel or think you're my pastor.
naw. i'm not exactly on for debates, unless you bring up what i believe. as you can tell, that's when i get pretty vocal. i hope i wasn't disrespectful or anything at any point in time. if i was, i apologize. i will say that i meant every word, though.
that's not what you originally said though, and i take it the way it's meant to be taken. there is so much to the Bible that not even believers who have believed for so many years don't know everything about the Bible. it's history and a lesson on morals. everything from from the creation of the world to the birth of Jesus to Revelation is true and either See More has or will happen. there are christians out in the world who would sooner die than say a single line is false.
Ok, let me put this in a different way: I believe in the Bible. I just don't follow word-for-word what it says because i follow the big-picture moral and obligations and rules of the story. So,, you just take it literally while I just take out the theme.
no, i understand. you follow the commands and morals, but you don't believe what the Bible says. however, all those morals and commands to come from the Bible.
okay. it says "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." faith alone doesn't mean you're saved, and works doesn't save you either. Faith comes first, then the works. Not works then faith.
faith is not the same as obedience. God clearly states through the Bible that it is his word and is the truth. having faith would mean you'd take God at his word.
in several verses, like 2 Timothy 3:16-17 and Hebrews 4:12, that the Bible (or God's word) is God-breathed, for one. also, the Bible also says in James 2:24 that (i'm not directly quoting this, but i will give a summary) faith alone doesn't save you. if you read 1 John (the whole book), you will see several characteristics that "true believers" are supposed See More to possess. by saying that the Bible is not true, you are saying that God is a liar.
and i know what i said i know. i know you said you don't believe the Bible, but i do. so, while it might not be a fact to you, if you actually read the Bible, you will see that not following God's law is disobedience and all. therefore, based of the Bible, what i said was a fact.
"I am a complete advocate of equalism for all. I believe everyone should have the same rights of others and no racism/sexism/ religionism/ etc. So I know that you can be a Christian and wacko and Islam and great!" i used "know" the exact same way you did.
you keep saying "know" on your opinions. as for the rest of it, i'm not trying to be offensive. i'm just stating what you call my opinion as well as what is believed by other groups.
So, again, just teaching you so if you are debating with someone not so tolerant, you don't offend them. Never say "know" in religion; you don't "know" anything; you believe. Also, don't offend other beliefs while debating only state yours and ask questions. I understand what you are saying and I think there's not much we can discuss after this but if you have See More more questions feel free to ask me here or on my wall or over PM.
but i'm not. Catholics believe that, in order to avoid hell, you have to know God's law and do all sorts of good works. there are some christians who believe that believing in God and Jesus alone will save you from hell. i know that it is believing and having faith in Jesus and God is what really saves us, but i also know that not following God's law is disobedience. See More if there is no clear change in your behavior after you are saved, it's very likely that you aren't really christian, but you can claim to be all you want.
I said completely the opposite of being a conservative xD What I meant by that is it all depends on the person not the race, religion, or sexual preference, etc. I don't believe fully in the Bible as I stated before. Don't take this wrong, but try and re-read deeper my comments because it's all there.
i know, i'm just asking because i just don't see how you can get the "you can be a Christian and wacko and Islam and great" thing from the Bible. are you a conservative Christian (meaning you believe the Bible is completely God-breathed and truthful)?
I am a complete advocate of equalism for all. I believe everyone should have the same rights of others and no racism/sexism/ religionism/ etc. So I know that you can be a Christian and wacko and Islam and great!
well, christians aren't the only good people, just like nonbelievers aren't the only people who do some crazy stuff. you know how a lot of people think homosexuality is wrong? i have a christian friend who is homosexual, and i'm trying to help her out with that... (don't ask me how that's going because i will say that she gets really touchie on that subject, See More so i tend to be a little cautious about it around her...)
Okay, got it. I'm just going to share what I know and believe. So, I can see where you're "sorta" is coming from, but I think you're a little confused on what it truly means to be a Christian, and you're reasoning for not exactly being a Christian. Protestants mean that you are Christian, but you are not Catholic. However, believing the Bible isn't the only See More thing to being a Christian. While, yes, morals are important, in order to be a real Christian, you believe with all your heart that God is real, Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and it is by grace you are saved. At least, that's Christianity in a nutshell, but there is soooooo much more that I'd never be able to full explain it to you. I'd be more than happy to answer questions after you read this little explanation, though.
Just word it right and don't say "That's wrong" or nothing else offensive and we should be fine. Remember though, I'm not here to be converted and you asked me what my thoughts were.
(Read bottom one first) Why I state myself as Protestant though is because their morals and beliefs for what a person should be like I agree with whole-heartedly. Also, being a Christian means I believe in the bible. NOW, (I know this is long but you said you were curious), I believe the bible is about morals, beliefs, and concepts so I do not take the stories See More literally but instead take the big-picture meaning from them. There's more if you want to know but this covers the basics xD :p If you read this far through I'm very impressed xD
Tis why I said ask ;) Casually, I'll call myself Protestant. Once you start to talk to me though I have an odd fairly unique belief system. I believe in my own adaptation of the Buddhist reincarnation cycle: I believe that God creates a soul for a purpose and we live a life to try and fulfill that purpose. Some souls do it in one lifetime (rare on my opinion) See More and some take 1000 lifetimes. Once, a soul has completed its mission it goes to Heaven. Now, if a soul fails in God's eyes, he stops protecting it from $atan and usually once $atan is free to do his work humans fail but if they don't God gives them another chance. Also, I'm not polytheistic but I think God has helpers such as Death and Mother Nature. They aren't gods per say but God employs them because of everything he has to handle.
