(Chapter 26)
~~ [Dream] ~~Cindertuft was meeting up with Mapleclaw in the Dark Forest tonight. She was training with Tigerstar, but this time he was going easy on her. The reason he was going easy on her was because Mapleclaw and some others would kill him if he killed her. Mapleclaw was like Cindertuft's second mother. Bluefang never even talked to Cindertuft anymore. It was like she despised Cindertuft.
Mapleclaw thought this was a load of crap. Ever since Mapleclaw introduced herself to Cindertuft she vowed to protect and love her until Cindertuft died. Cindertuft was forever grateful. She even started crying when Mapleclaw told her.
Even with a broken leg, Cindertuft was fast. Tigerstar could barely keep his eyes on her for a second before she disappeared into the darkness. Mapleshade ended the training after Tigerstar almost slit Cindertuft's throat. Mapleclaw then dismissed the two to do anything they wanted. Everyone was already used to Cindertuft staying. They liked her company and they all agreed that they could use some more she-cats in the Dark Forest.
Cindertuft was now padding around the Dark Forest clearing when she saw a familiar pelt of someone sitting in the clearing. Their back was facing her but she knew this cat.
"H-hawkflame? What're y-you doing here?" Cindertuft asked him, very confused and surprised. "Cindertuft...? Hey! I remember you saying that you came here and I decided to join to have more alone time with you!" Hawkflame explained as he padded over to her and licked her cheek. Cindertuft held back a blush. She didn't want to look 'weak' in front of her Dark Forest friends. "You shouldn't do that..." Cindertuft said quietly. "What? Why not? Why can't I express my love for you here?" Hawkflame asked. "Because it'll make you look weak and others will pick or kill you if they find out." Cindertuft explained. Hawkflame's eyes widened.
"Cindertuft, sweetie. Where are you?" They heard Mapleclaw call for Cindertuft. "Coming momma!" Cindertuft shouted back to Mapleclaw. "Momma?!" Hawkflame exclaimed very confused. "You call Mapleclaw 'momma' now?" He asked. "Yes, she's like another mother to me. Bluefang doesn't speak to me anymore and Mapleclaw actually cares for me." Cindertuft sighed.
"You wouldn't understand..." Cindertuft quietly said and looked down at her paws. "I should get going. Mapleclaw needs me." She said and turned to leave. "Ok... If you need to talk, just remember one thing. I'm always here for you." Hawkflame said, concern in his voice. Cindertuft nodded then leapt away into the bushes to meet Mapleclaw.
