Newcomer (Chapter 11)

Newcomer (Chapter 11)
 ~~Tay's P.O.V~~

I tore into the limp body of a mouse that I had picked from the prey pile a few minutes earlier. I heard the same strange singing as before and peered through a crack in the rocky walls. A reject. Suddenly the thunder of paws shook the ground. I poked my head out of the cramped den, drinking in the clear air. I spotted Kuturo just as he landed with another cat. The newcomer had gray fur with darker gray markings. He had light blue markings on his paws and ears. His eyes were a deep yellow color with flecks of green. There was a quirky and mischievous look in them. Kuturo looked rather angry. Lyna rushed over and frowned. Kuturo had a few scratches running along his left wing. "Throw him in the punishment den...He attacked me," He growled as Lyna shoved the newcomer into the den with Tay.

"Uh hi...I'm Tay" I greeted him nervously. He studied me for a few seconds before introducing himself. "Hi Tay, I'm Kyro." He rested his head on his paws and closed his eyes. I stared at his sleeping face for a moment longer. To be honest, I kinda have a crush on him. I plopped down across from him and shut my eyes. Willing sleep to whisk me away.

I heard a yowl and a thud as I ran. No, I was being carried by another cat that looked like me. I'm a kit? She whirled around and gasped, dropping me. I let out a squeak as I hit the dirt. Another cat that was a light gray color was lying in a pool of blood. His eyes were glazed and filled with fear. "Lyno!" The first cat yelped. Suddenly a human grabbed me. I squirmed as the cat below me hissed and nipped at the human. "Tay! I can't lose you too!" She mewed frantically, her voice filled with sadness. The human kicked her into a tree and she fell limp. I whimpered as I saw her brown fur turning red. Was she my mother? The human put me In a monster and I fell asleep.

I woke up in the den gasping for air again. My dreams were only getting worse every night. I looked around and my breath caught in my throat. Kyro was pressed against my flank, snoring. He must have heard my whimpers. I closed my eyes and snuggled even closer to him. At least I have someone who actually cares about me.
