Everything Goes Wrong
"Hey. Hey!" Someone prodded my side. I looked up to see Candy, a concerned look on her face."You all right? I didn't warn you about them... Libby and Miku, the school gossipers. Libby the real threat, Miku doesn't even want to be with her. Libby makes her." I smiled wryly. Candy hugged me.
"Just ignore them," she instructed me, which was pretty hard to do because them yelling at some other victim was heard in the entire bus.
"That skirt is NOT suppost to be worn with combat boots. PUH-LEASE."
"Fashion criiime," Miku trilled. Libby looked at her approvingly. Wait... did she just say... combat boots and a skirt?
No, i'm not worried that its a fashion crime, i don't care much for how people dress. It's just, that reminds me of someone... Suddenly i remembered. Coraline! A shock went through me, and i guess i had a weird expression because Candy glanced at me funny.
"Ar-Are you okay?" I nodded.
"Yeah yeah I'm fine. Can... can you move for a second?" Candy reluctantly scooted back, letting me pass. Then she realized what I was going to do.
"No no no no wait!" I was already behind Libby.
"Ah-HEM." Libby and Miku turned, and both looked quite startled. Then Libby's expression faded into a sly smile, and Miku followed her example.
"Hello again Hessar." I knew she was doing it on purpose, so I didn't even correct her. "What brings you to our friendly little company all of a sudden?" I narrowed my eyes and pointed at Coraline.
"Her, that's what." Coraline shrank back in her seat. Miku flinched, but Libby stayed as solid as a statue.
"Oh her?" she asked without even looking back. "We were just having a lovely chat, weren't we darling?" She patted Coraline's head, and she scowled at her. Libby frowned and calmly drew her hand away. Apparently nothing could get through that thick skull of hers. I rolled my eyes.
"Just leave her alone will you?" I asked. Libby thrust her chin up and sashayed to her seat in the back row of the bus. They both took out their phones and started giggling at something. I stared at them. I genuinely hadn't expected it to work, it was just a general statement. But oh well. I glanced at Coraline and smiled. She grinned and nodded at me. I went back to my seat next to Candy. She gaped at me.
"Whaat?" I complained. It was really freaking me out.
"N-nothing," she stuttered. I proudly looked out the window, enjoying the last few minutes the ride.
The bus pulled into the parking lot. I winced at the memory of my mini cooper, which had broken down and had to be repaired. I wouldn't see it for another 4 months. The students filed off the bus, me following Candy. She was shaking her head, and that only made me prouder. As I was getting off the last step, someone bumped me from behind and i dropped the book I was carrying. Candy turned around to wait for me, but i waved my hand in a sign for her to keep going. She nodded briefly, the jogged away towards the fountain. I bent over to grasp the thick textbook when the stench of vanilla tuna filled my nose.
"Uh-oh..." I thought and hurried to get inside the building, but Libby and Miku (again) blocked my path.
"Where do you think you're going?" mused Miku.
"Uh, to school?" I replied. Miku didnt answer, but Libby reached out and slapped me. Hard. I rubbed me cheek.
"Hey!" I saw Coraline hurrying towards me. She winked and mouthed: "My turn." She turned to Libby... and punched her in the stomach.
"Wait, WHAT?! No!" I cried. They all ignored me. Miku gasped and hit Coraline in the head with her messenger bag. Coraline growled. And everything went wrong.
