Glances
I didn't really watch the push-up contest. I stood in the outer-crowd and just listened to the whistles and whoops, most were from the Ares and Nike kids. I noticed a head of coffee-brown hair. Hunter. He noticed me too. We stared at each other and smiled.-
That was the drill for the next few days. Whenever we saw each other, we just smiled. Evie came up behind me.
"Mia, don't you start fancying him. You're a Hunter of Artemis, and you know the rules. You took the oath, and there's no going back," Evie whispered.
"Yes, I'm aware. And I don't like him like that. We're just kinda sorta friends, I guess. We just had a talk, and he said he wouldn't come on to me because of the oath, so we're good," I reassured her.
"Whatever you say," she said sarcastically.
Were we going to become more than friends? Probably not. We couldn't. No way.
"Hey Mia," some one tapped on my back. It was Hunter.
"Hey Hunter," I replied.
"You want to help me with my archery? In the woods, since it's probably going to be more like my surrounding when I use my skills," he asked.
Did I? In the woods? That seemed a bit odd, but he had some pretty good reasoning to back him up so it didn't seem like he would do anything wrong. Oh, what was the worst that could happen? I might as well accept, I mean it's not like I had anything else to do really.
"Oh yeah, sure. Sound fun. Tomorrow?" I asked
"Yup, see you there," he said. And with that, we parted ways.
