The Thief

The Thief "Is there a problem, sir?" the elf inquired. "If so, have a muffin. They are lovely, and someone wrote extremely helpful notes in the book about them."
"Thanks," Voldemort took one. It was definitely one from the missing book. "Well, this book is mine," he told the elf. "Do you know where Draco is now?"
"In his room," replied the elf.

Draco opened the door a crack and peeked out. When he saw Voldemort's face glaring at him from the dark hallway, he shrieked and slammed it shut.
Then he realized he wasn't dreaming and that slamming the door in the Dark Lord's face was not the greatest idea. He flung it back open.
"Hello, my lord," he squeaked. "What's up?" He avoided looking at Nagini.
Voldemort held up the book. "I think you know what's up."
"Ah, yes, about that-"
Voldemort raised an eyebrow. Then he remembered he didn't have eyebrows. "Yes, I'm sure you have a really great explanation," Voldemort waved his hand at the boy. "I don't really care. I want my book and I want you to not touch my house again. All I'm going to say to you is that this year, for my regeneration party, you and Lucius better not get me some silly cheap thing," Voldemort gestured to the marble floor and carved doorframe. "I know you have lots of money."
"Of course, of course," Draco nodded.
"Okay good," Voldemort said. "I don't know what's gotten into you Malfoys lately, but make sure your mother doesn't try stealing anything from me next." He paused. "Why didn't you come down to the meeting?"
"Um-"
"Never mind, I don't care," Voldemort said. "I don't have time for this. Bye." And with that, the Dark Lord spun around and swept down the hallway to where Wormtail was waiting.
Draco shut his door and collapsed on his bed. He was glad he didn't have to explain. He taken the recipe to make muffins for Snape's birthday, and hadn't attended the meeting because he needed to wrap up a batch to send to him. Snape was his favorite professor (probably partially because Draco was Snape's favorite student).
