Chapter 35: Morning Walk With Chatterer
I put everything away; my clothes, shoes, CDs. I put my weapons under my bed and sat my iPod and lap top on my desk. Everything was put up finally. Now I could put my pajamas on and tell my family goodnight. I walked to my dresser and pulled out a pair of shorts and a tank top. My dad didn't like me wearing shorts or any other type of clothing that showed lots of my skin. Thankfully, aunt Esther had stepped in and took care of that. I slipped on my PJ's and then walked out. All door's were shut and the lights were off.
Everyone must of went to bed. I let out a sigh and turned on the hallway light. I walked over towards the stairs and walked down them. I entered the hallway and inside the kitchen. I walked over to the fridge and opened it. I took out a carton of orange juice and closed the fridge. I took a glass from the cupboard and poured the juice inside. I took a sip. Mmm, satisfying.
I sat the glass in the sink and I was just about to turn on the kitchen light until something orange caught my eye. I looked outside of the kitchen window and saw a small orange glow coming from over the big oak tree that sat in the middle of the backyard. I raised my eyebrow in confusion. Then it occurred to me, it was a cigarette. Someone was outside smoking, but how? I felt my heart pace quicken and fear began to strike me, until I saw a kitchen knife half-way hanging out of the kitchen box. I smirked.
I reached over for the knife quietly and took it out. I held it firmly against my side. With one backward step, I walked out of the kitchen and over towards the front door. I slipped on my shoes quickly and opened the door quietly so I wouldn't wake my family up. I slipped outside quietly and walked off the porch and over towards the side of the house. Once I hit the back porch, I hid behind a bush where I could see the orange cigarette glow. The glow went in and out as the person that was smoking it had inhaled it.
I waited. I watched and waited to see what this person was going to do. I could see from the looks of it, the person looked male and very skinny. I wondered why he was just standing there. He seemed to be starring at the house, waiting. Waiting for what though? To be killed? If that was the reason, well he was going to get that soon. I looked down at the knife in my hand and starred at it's sharp edge. I remember training with uncle Michael. He taught me how to throw a knife directly at my victim straight in the heart. He taught what angle I should throw it and how far away I would be able to throw it.
Just starring back at the knife in my hand and the man smoking his cigarette by the tree, we both were far away. I was surprised that he didn't notice my presence, but I was thankful. I sighed to myself and held the knife up. I bit my lip in anticipation and held the knife by the tip of the blade. Being careful not to cut myself, I threw the knife hard and far. I watched it disappear into darkness, straight into the direction where the male was. Within a couple of seconds, heard the sound of flesh piercing and a groan. I got him. I quickly ran into the direction here the male was. The cigarette was on the ground and it's glow was shining.
The male laid helplessly on the floor and I thought my shot had killed him, but I could see his leg twitching.
"Nice throw.", he laughed hoarsely.
I stopped in my tracks as I went to reach for the knife. That voice, I knew that voice from somewhere. I snatched my knife from his chest and pulled him up and pushed him up against the tree. The moonlight shown down on his face and there standing in front of me smiling, was Greg Simmons.
"You look very beautiful in the moonlight.", he smiled.
I got angry as he said that and I found myself holding the blade against his throat. He looked afraid, but why shouldn't he be?
"Cool it babe, I just wanted to have a talk was all.", he said.
"A talk about what? And what the hell are you doing outside my house? What are you huh? Some kind of spy or something?"
I was raising my voice a little bit, but I hope it wasn't high enough to awake my family.
"Ok ok, listen you got me ok! I'm sorry if I scared you, but I just wanted to talk was all. We never finished our conversation at your party."
"Oh!", I growled. "And you thought now would be perfect! Outside my house at two something in the morning!"
I lost it there. I got a little more louder this time, but I was surprised that any lights didn't turn on in the house. I removed the knife from Greg's throat as he let out a sigh. I planted the knife in my pants pocket and wrapped my hand around Greg's throat. I squeezed his neck a little. He choked.
"Oh! Come on Ash...", Greg muttered.
I rolled my eyes. "Tell me exactly why you were outside my house, just starring and smoking a cigarette. Huh? Come on tell me, what was the reason?"
"Ok ok ok! I'll tell you if you stop chocking me."
I starred at him for a moment and then slowly released my hand. I let him catch his breath for a minute. I had my eyes glued on him the entire time as he spent the time trying to catch his breath and regain himself. I didn't trust this guy, even though he was kind of...No! He's not cute! I have a boyfriend already. I have Chatterer, I can't be thinking about this guy. Shit! I shouldn't even be out here alone with this guy!
"Look.", Greg began. "I just wanted to talk was all. Just about...."
The sound of something sharp piercing through flesh again caught me off guard and I realized it came from Greg. There pierced in Greg's stomach was a blade; a blade of a sword. But how that happen, I then found out: Chatterer. Chatterer stood behind Greg, holding the sword firmly in his hands. He twisted it back and forth from what I saw and Greg coughed out blood by this. I smiled.
"Chat...", I breathed.
I felt like I was in one of those Princess stories that uncle Pinhead would make me read when I was younger. A prince would come to save his princess from harm and that's exactly how I felt right now. Chatterer was coming to my rescue (even though I didn't know what I needed to be rescued from).
I watched as Greg fell to the ground dead. I starred down at Greg's lifeless body and then looked up at Chatterer. He was starring at me. I smiled at him.
"Thanks for that.", I smiled. "Since when did you get here anyway?"
Chatterer began to chatter his teeth. I sighed.
I wish I knew what he was saying.
Suddenly, Chatterer took out a note pad and began to write. After he was done, he handed the notebook to me and I began to read:
I was in your room, but you weren't there until I looked out your window and saw you out here. Mind me ask what you were doing with him?
I sighed. "Look, it's not what you think, but..."
I was cut off by a pair of teeth crashing against my lips. I was taken back at first. I didn't know at first what Chatterer was doing, but then I realized that he was kissing me. I closed my eyes and surrendered myself to him. I slid my arms around his neck as his slid his around my waist. I couldn't explain this feeling that I was having, but it felt damn good.
We both pulled away after a couple of moments. I smiled up at Chatterer.
"Can we go for a walk?", I asked.
He nodded his head in reply. He took my hand and then led me up the bank towards the woods. I followed close behind him and starred at the back of his head as I saw a glimpse of red. I noticed that his wires had stretched all the way to the back of his head and were planted in place. I wondered if it hurted him because from the looks of it, it looked like it did.
"Chat?", I asked.
He didn't stop walking, but he looked over his shoulder to look at me. He motioned for me to know that he was listening.
"Does those wires hurt you?", I asked.
He didn't chatter his teeth, but instead shrugged. He then came to a stopping point at a tree and then spun me around. He caught me by my waist and then pushed me against the tree. With my hand still in his, he raised it and pressed it against his cheek. I felt how rough his skin was and how cold the wires were.
"It doesn't hurt you?", I asked, starring into his eyes.
He titled his head to the side and then shrugged again. He let go of my hand for a moment to take out a pen from his pocket. He took my hand from his cheek and began to write softly on my hand. He wrote the word, No.
I smiled to myself and watched as he licked his thumb and began to wipe the black ink off my hand. It was fully gone after a couple of minutes.
"Does the other cenobites know your here?", I asked.
Chatterer shook his head and then raised his hand up to my cheek. He stroked it and then trailed his finger tips lightly down my jaw line. He stopped at my lips and rubbed my bottom lip with his thumb. I was speechless at this touch. I never felt nothing like this, except for the time when I killed those teens, but this right here, this was special. Chatterer continued stoking my lip for a while and then started to rub my waist with his other hand. It sent shivers down my spine. Chatterer noticed this and then began to lean his face in slowly towards mine. I felt my heart race and my breathing quicken.
"Chat...", I breathed.
The morning air was cool and I could see my mist of breath as I spoke. Chatterer placed a finger over my lips to silenced me. Then, without warning, Chatterer removed his finger and started to kiss me again. I smiled in the kiss and wrapped my arms around his neck. We stood making out for what seemed like forever, even though it's been only ten minutes.
We both pulled away after hearing the sound of a stick breaking. Chatterer quickly took out his knife, ready to slice whoever it was that was watching us. Suddenly, behind Chatterer, Female had appear. She was looking back and forth between us with a smile.
"Sorry to interrupt, but Chatterer? Your need back at headquarters. Lord Leviathan wishes to speak with you.", Female said.
Chatterer lowered his knife and heaved. He tucked his knife back away in his pocket and turned back to me. I didn't want Chatterer to go yet, but I wasn't going to hold him back from speaking with our lord. I gave Chatterer a small smile to reassure him to go. Chatterer reached his hand out to touch my face. He leaned in and gave me one last kiss and then disappeared with Female. I sighed to myself, realizing I was all alone.
