Mark and Herald
*Mark's P.O.V.* Herald grabbed my hand and pulled me away from the girls. He bumped into Jessica and I saw him slip her cellphone into his pocket. Good one, that should teach her. We turned the corner and he let go. I began to cry."Why do I have to be a half breed?" Herald looked at me with a concerned look on his face.
"Don't call yourself that..."
"But It's true! I don't want to be a half breed! Why did Mom have to be a cat!? How come you look pure hedgehog!?"
"Mark, it's alright."
"No it's not! You look just like Dad, no one would guess that you were half cat! For me? For me it's obvious!"
"Mark! Stop that!" He grabbed my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. "You're letting them get to you! That's what they want! If you satisfy them, things will only get worse!"
"Yeah right!" Herald hissed and then covered his mouth. "You're letting your cat side show."
"Just....Come on!" He began walking to Dad's classroom. He wasn't teaching any classes at the moment, so we just walked in. He was at his desk.
"Oh, Herald! Mark! What is it?" My older brother held up Jessica's phone.
"Here, they were being mean to Mark." He looked at the cellphone and smiled.
"Great job! and they didn't notice?" Herald shook his head.
"They didn't notice."
"You've improved!" Herald gave the stolen phone to Dad. The two looked so much alike! If only I looked more like him and not Mom......
"Mark?" Dad's voice brought me back to my senses. "Are you alright? You're spacing out."
"Yeah, I'm fine!"
"Well, I'm going to confiscate the phone until they come to get it. So, who's is it this time?"
"Jessica's"
"Well then, she'll be here pretty s-" The girls burst in. Dad was right, they did figure it out quickly. Jessica spoke first.
"Professor Manic, may I have my cellphone back?" I quickly hid, they didn't seem to notice. The warning bell rang. Oh no! I had to hurry! Dad looked at the clock.
"You should get to class, I'll give you your phone after second hour."
"Ok," They left. That was close.....
"You should get to class too." Dad was talking to me now, and Herald had already left.
"Oh, right! Sorry!" I fast-walked out of the classroom and headed to Uncle Sonic's class.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I was late for English, and then for Science. I don't know why, but something always seems to happen to make me tardy. I face palmed myself on the way to History class. Couldn't I do anything right? The warning bell sounded and I sped up. If only I was as fast as my uncle, oh well. I entered Professor Silver's classroom right as the tardy bell rang. Just made it! I quickly sat down at my desk and half listened to the lecture.
"So that's how General Darren defeated the Shadow Walkers in the First Dark War. I want you all to write a report on his strategy and what you would do if in his place." Professor Silver concluded. Wait, what? It's already been that long? When I started paying attention, class was almost over. I didn't know we were talking about the First Dark War! That's my favorite time in history! Oh well, I missed the lesson and now it's time for lunch.
I mentally slapped myself about a thousand times. First I'm late for almost all of my classes, and now this! The girls are right, I am worthless......
*Herald's P.O.V.* I sighed and walked to the cafeteria. Miss Rose gave us a lot of homework, but that wasn't my concern. The bullies' effect on Mark was getting worse. I wonder if he's doing alright. I looked over to the table where he usually sits alone, to see an unfamiliar white hedgehog talking with him. Now that I think of it, didn't I see her in the hall earlier? She's kind of cute.......
I got my food and sat next to Mark like I usually do, but he doesn't seem to notice. He's too focused on that pretty girl.
"...and General Darren sealed the leader away, ending the war. Although, it took all of his strength to do so, and he died about three days later." She was saying. She then noticed me and asked Mark, "Isn't that your brother?"
Mark turned around and nearly jumped when he saw me, I guess he really hadn't noticed. Mark turned back to the girl.
"How did you know he was my brother?"
"He called you his brother earlier, didn't he?"
"oh yeah..." I then decided to speak.
"Who is your new friend?"
"Her name is Rosalia, she just transferred today." Rosalia, huh? It's a nice name.
"I'm Herald the Hedgehog" I held out my hand and she shook it and smiled. Ok, Herald, look away before you get drawn in...... I smiled and shrugged the thought away. Never mind that, Mark has a new friend. I'm happy for him.
