Kacey the Hedgehog

*Kacey's P.O.V.* I finished my food and walked outside to the playground. Active games aren't really in my interest, so I decided to use my lunch recess to get started on my report for Professor Silver.
The playground has a row of trees lining the edge. I sat down at the base of one and began writing. After a while, I heard someone singing. I didn't recognize the voice, but it was the best singing I had ever heard. The song was unfamiliar, though. I believe some of the words were:

It's hard to say that I'd rather
stay awake when I'm asleep,

'Cause I get a thousand hugs,
from ten thousand lightning bugs,
as they try to teach me how to dance.
A foxtrot above my head,
a sock hop beneath my bed,
a disco ball is just hanging by a thread.    *some of the words have been modified slightly*

It was a beautiful song, even though it was sung by a boy. I turned towards the sound to see who it was. It was Mark the Hedgecat. What? I didn't know he had such a nice voice! He was sitting against a tree with his earphones in, singing along. Herald was leaning against another tree, listening. When the song was over, he spoke.
"That's one good thing you inherited!" Mark stood up and took his earphones out. "You sound better then Mom and Dad put together!"
"No I don't" Mark replied.
"You sing a lot better then I do!"
"Yeah right, you're the best."
"Just admit it! You're great, I suck!"  Herald looked a little annoyed, but didn't act on it.
"But it's not true!" The hedgecat complained, "I can't do anything well, or even correctly! The girls are right....I'm just a worthless halfbreed...."
Herald was shaking with anger, then he punched Mark in the head. I gasped. He hit his own brother when he knows how insecure Mark is!
Mark's ears flattened and he held his head, a pained expression on his face.
"COME TO YOUR SENSES!" Herald hissed. Wait, he hissed? I've never seen him do that, but he IS half cat....... Mark looked ashamed and Herald expression changed from anger, to surprise. "I-I'm sorry, Mark..."
"No, it was my fault, I'm an idiot..." He then put his earphones back in and walked away. His brother facepalmed himself. I feel sorry for Mark.....The bell rang and Reccess was over. What do I have next again? Oh yeah, Engineering with Tails. I walked to the classroom, thinking about what just happened.
