New Information

I laid down on my bed, smiling to myself.  

Prom was tomorrow and everything was going to be great.  I had a perfect dress, for a perfect prom theme (a Night in Paris), and I was going with an amazing guy.

It was also going to be the day I told Lucas I loved him.  And I did, so very much.  

Teresa knocked on my door and I yelled for her to come in.

"Why are you so happy?"  She asked, sitting down.

"I'm just excited for Prom," I sat up.

She laughed.  "Well, I hope your experience is better than mine was."

"What happened?"

"My date, Josh Wilburn, tried to groppe me on the dance floor," she laughed.  

"He did not," I said.  

"Oh, but he did.  It wasn't entirely his fault though, someone had spiked the punch and he didn't know until his fourth cup."

We both laughed.  

"So, your going with Lucas, right?"  She asked.

"Um, yeah," I said.  "He's my boyfriend so it's only logical that he would ask me."

She nodded.  

"Teresa?"  I asked.

"Hmm?"  

"I... I think I'm in love with him," I said, my voice wavering.

Her eyes grew wide.  "What?!"

I was shocked by her reaction.  I thought  she would be supportive... anything but appauled and shocked.  "Why is it so bad that I love Lucas"

"I mean I knew you guys dated or whatever but I never thought you were serious or anything."  She said.

"We've been dating for over a month now, Teresa."

"Doesn't that seem a little sudden?"  

I sighed.  "Maybe, but that doesn't change my feelings.  I really do love him."

She shook her head.  "Okay, okay.  I just thought you would want to take it slow with a guy who..."

Huh?  What was she talking about?  "Someone who what?"

"You really don't know?"

I shook my head.  "Tell me."

She sighed.  "Me and his mom take yoga together, and ended up being pretty good friends about a year ago.  Now, we don't really talk.  But she told me about what happened.  It happened over the summer.  Him and two friends.... John and...Oh, what's his name?"

"Brandon?"

"Yeah!  Brandon.  Anyway, Brandon and John were buying drugs from a guy at school.  So, one day, Brandon decided to take Lucas with them.  John drove, Lucas was in the back, and Brandon was out buying.  The dealer got mad about something, I think Brandon didn't have enough money, so he pulled a gun.  John saw and hit the gas. He knocked the dealer a few feet back, and Brandon got in the car.  They drove, leaving the guy there.  But the cops found out, even though the dealer lost part of his memory."

"What happened?"

She shrugged.  "John and Brandon did some community service, and Lucas got off with a warning because it was his first time.   The dealer was released two months ago."

"What does this have to do with me loving Lucas?  He didn't do anything."

She sighed.  "You're right, he didn't have anything to do with it.  I just.. I don't know.  I just want you to be careful, I don't want you to get a broken heart."

I nodded.  

"I'm sorry.  If you love Lucas, then that's great.  I'm really happy for you and he seems like a great guy.:"

I smiled.  "He is."

"Okay, I guess I'll leave you alone now.  Sorry about me overreacting."

"It's okay, I understand."

As she left, I couldn't help but losing some trust in Lucas.  I knew it was just a mistake, but at the same time, he didn't tell me.  

I shook off the feeling.  He probably just thought I already knew.  

Still, something didn't feel right.
