Chapter 11

Daniela skipped happily into the gymnasium. "Daniela you look happy today." said Allison. "Yeah." replied Daniela smiling brightly. Daniela sat in her squad line. "Hey Daniela." said Nina walking over. "Hi Nina." greeted Daniela. "What's up?" Nina asked. "Oh nothing much, just being happy." Daniela smiled. "Well that's good." Nina replied. "Yup." said Daniela. The boys locker room door opened. Daniela watched as all the boys came out. Then she saw Louis come out. She blushed. Louis walked towards Daniela and plopped right next to her. "Hi Dani." Louis greeted. "Hi . . ." replied Daniela. "So . . ." someone touched both Daniela and Louis' shoulder. They both turned their heads. "I heard you two were going out! Is that true?" asked May, jumping up and down excitedly. Louis and Daniela looked at each other, Daniela blushed even harder. Louis grabbed Daniela's hand and showed May both of their hands. "What does it look like?" Louis asked. May shrieked in excitement and ran back to her friends. Louis still held his grip on Daniela's hand. Daniela held on to his shyly. They both turned and faced back to Nina. Nina smiled and scooted over to Daniela. "Good luck." Nina said. "Thanks, I guess." Daniela replied, confused.
"Alright class, line up we're going outside to run." announced Mr. Mound. Everyone moaned. "It's too cold!" someone shouted. "Oh come on, you guys need some exercise. It's not that cold." said Mrs. Lane, zippering up her jacket. Daniela and Louis got up. They walked over to their friends. "Hey." Daniela greeted as she came up to Hana. "Hi." Hana greeted back. They walked outside. "Let's start jogging." suggested Allison. Then, they started to go ahead of the crowd. Soon, everyone else started to split up and haste around the field. Daniela jogged along the concrete path. She looked behind her. Louis was just a couple of feet away from Daniela and her friends. She turned back around and smiled. They kept on jogging. Soon Daniela tripped and fell on the concrete, just a few feet away from finishing her jog. Hana and Allison didn't notice Daniela fall, so they just kept on going. Daniela fell on her knees. She moaned in pain. Daniela grabbed onto the fence and tried to get up. She felt her knees stung as she slowly got up. Daniela looked at her legs when she finally stood up. Her knees were scraped and started to bleed. She was in too much pain. Daniela looked behind her. Louis was still way behind her with his friends. She took a deep breath and started to move forward. Each step she took was a shot full of torture. Daniela clenched her teeth. Hana and Allison were still running. She let go of the fence and tried to walk on her own. Her legs wobbled. Daniela tried to jog again, but suddenly sharp pain came upon her legs and she fell again. She closed her eyes, feeling more misery. Daniela started to shiver, feeling the cold breeze of winter.
As Louis was walking with his friends, he looked over where Daniela was jogging. He watched as she collapsed on the ground. He noticed that Allison or Hana were not with her. His eyes widened. "Dani!" Louis yelled and he ran through his friends and rushed over to Daniela. "Louis!" shouted his friend, Nicki. "Where are you going?!" she asked. Louis ignored her and kept running. Keira squinted her eyes and looked over to the direction where Louis was running. "It looks like Daniela fell." said Keira. "Really?" asked Nicki, confused, she looked over. "Oh." said Nicki quietly. "They are going out you know." said Keira. "Seriously??" asked Nicki, even more confused. "That boy never told me." replied Nicki, surprised and angry. "Well it's true, May asked them earlier." informed Keira. "They look so cute together." she added.
Louis made it to Daniela. Daniela looked at him, pain in her eyes. "Here let me help you up." Louis said, putting Daniela's arm over his shoulder. "You're so clumsy . . ." his voice suddenly faded away. Louis stared at Daniela's knees. "You're bleeding." said Louis, shocked. "It's not that bad . . ." Daniela assured Louis. "No you're bleeding. Come on, get on my back." he said, slouching down on the ground. "No I'm fine, it's okay." Daniela said. "It's not fine." Louis disagreed. "Louis, I'm heavy, you don't have to." said Daniela. "I have to. I'm your boyfriend, aren't I? Even if I wasn't, I would still do this. Now get on." Louis replied, serious. Daniela shyly climbed on to Louis' back. Louis got up quickly. "See your not heavy." assured Louis. Daniela blushed. She looked at her knees again. The bleeding had stopped, but her knees were still covered in blood. Daniela sighed.
Louis walked them both to the teacher. Mr. Mound looked at Louis and Daniela confused. "Louis put her down, you shouldn't be . . ." Mr. Mound stopped. "Daniela what happened, why are your knees bleeding?" he asked. "I accidentally tripped when I was jogging and scraped my knees." answered Daniela. "That's why I carried her over here." added Louis. Daniela bit her lip. "Well, we should get her to the nurse." said Mr. Mound. "Alright." replied Louis and he started to walk, with Daniela still on his back, back inside the school and into the nurse's office.
Allison and Hana ran over to Daniela and Louis before they could enter the school. "Daniela!" called Allison. Daniela turned her head. "Oh, hey." said Daniela. Louis turned around as well. "We're so sorry! We didn't notice you fall down and scrape your knees." apologized Hana. "Yeah, we're really sorry." added Allison. "It's alright. You guys didn't know. Luckily Louis saw and helped me." replied Daniela, smiling. "Louis!" yelled Nicki, as she ran over to Louis. May and Keira followed. "Oh my gosh! Daniela!" exclaimed May, surprised. Keira face showed disgust. "That's nasty. You must've really fell hard." said Keira. "Yeah . . ." Daniela replied shyly. "Louis, why did you run off like that?" asked Nicki. "Daniela fell down, I had go and help her." Louis responded, his eyes looked serious. "Boy, I'm mad at you." Nicki said. "Why?" asked Louis, confused. "You didn't tell me you were going out with Daniela!" Nicki exclaimed. "I told you during lunch." Louis replied. "No! You told me that she said she liked you too. That's it you said nothing about dating." claimed Nicki. "Calm down Nicki," Keira said. "You sound as if you were his mother." Daniela blushed. She squeezed Louis sweater and shivered. Louis looked up at Daniela. She sneezed in her arm. "I am sorry. I think we got to go before she catches a cold." said Louis, moving his chin up then down to show he was talking about Daniela. "Okay, meet me at my locker soon after the bell rings." said Nicki.
Louis turned back around and entered to the school. Daniela waved goodbye to Hana and Allison. Louis opened the door to the nurse's office. There was no one but the nurse in the room. The nurse stood at her desk gathering papers. She looked up. "Oh. What have we got here?" the nurse said looking strangely at Louis and Daniela. "She fell on the concrete and scraped her knees. Her knees started bleeding so I carried her over here." explained Louis. "Oh okay." the nurse looked at Daniela. "Well I was just about to go and bring some papers to the office. You two can stay here, I'll be back soon. You can just sit her on that bed." said the nurse, and she left the room and closed the door. She really left us in here alone? Daniela wondered and she sighed. Louis placed Daniela on the bed. Then he sat next to her. Daniela suddenly spoke up, "You didn't have to carry me." "That's a lie. You needed me to help you. You have to remember Dani, I'll always be there for you. Always. Don't doubt it." smiled Louis, and he held Daniela's hand. Daniela blushed and smiled, "And I'll always be there for you." She squeezed his hand. He squeezed hers. Always, Daniela assured herself in her head. Then, the nurse slowly opened the door.
