Chapter 12
"Tomorrow is winter break! I am so excited!" exclaimed Allison. "Yeah, and because of that our table is having a Christmas party!" added Alexia, holding a pack of candy canes in her hands. Daniela smiled. She looked down at her cookies. "I just hope mines didn't break." sighed Daniela. "Surely they didn't." said Brooke. "Hopefully." Daniela replied. They sat at their lunch table. "Wow, our table has a bunch of candy and treats." said Hana in amazement as she placed down her brownies on the table. "I don't even know why I even brought lunch when there is so many goodies." said Paula. Everyone nodded their heads. "I guess it's time to pass the treats out." Vimi rubbed her hands together. "Yup!" Janie agreed. Daniela opened her lunch box and took out the cookies. "Oh you brought gingerbread cookies!" Allison said excitedly. "Yeah but they're broken." Daniela replied disappointingly. "Most of them aren't. I'll take a broken one, I don't care." Hana said happily. "Are you sure?" asked Daniela. "Yeah." assured Hana. "Alright." Daniela opened the bag and pulled out two halves of a cookie. "I'll take a broken one, it'll be easier to eat." said Janie holding out her hand.Daniela handed Janie a broken gingerbread cookie as well. "Me too." added Brooke. Daniela handed her one. "I have one more broken cookie who wants it?" asked Daniela, holding out a star cookie. "Oh! Me!" exclaimed Paula. Daniela handed over the cookie. She reached back into her bag and pulled out three complete cookies. Daniela handed them to Allison, Alexia, and Vimi. Everyone else handed out their treats. Allison handed out eight cups full of chocolate. Alexia brought candy canes. Hana passed out her brownies. Vimi handed out her little packages with cards attached to them. Brooke brought chocolate chip cookies. Paula placed her small cake in front of everyone. Janie passed out her boxes of chocolate. Daniela stared at her bag. "Is something wrong?" asked Allison, munching on her cookie. "Oh, it's just that I have so many extra gingerbread cookies, I don't know what to do with them." replied Daniela. "Well, why don't you give some to Melissa's table or maybe Louis." Allison said, nudging Daniela with her elbow. Daniela blushed. "I guess I'll go to Melissa's table." said Daniela. She got up and walked away.
"Hey Daniela. What are you doing here?" asked Melissa, as Daniela walked over to her. "I had some extra gingerbread cookies, and I thought I should give some out to your table." replied Daniela, holding out her bag. "Sure, that'll be great." Melissa smiled. Daniela looked over to where Felix always sat. He wasn't there. "Where is Felix?" Daniela asked casually. "He's in the bathroom, you can give him one when he comes back." answered Melissa. "Okay." Daniela started to pass out her cookies. "Merry Christmas." said Daniela as she passed out each cookie. "Thanks Daniela." smiled Kate. "Your welcome." Daniela nodded. Then, Daniela noticed Felix enter the cafeteria. Daniela quickly ran over to him. She pulled out a cookie and held it out to Felix. "Merry Christmas Felix." Daniela said happily. Felix looked at Daniela and then the cookie. He blushed. "Uh thanks Daniela." Felix gladly took the cookie. "I'm sorry I couldn't get you anything." Felix apologized shyly. "It's alright, I-" "Dani!" Daniela was suddenly interrupted. Felix and Daniela looked over to where Daniela was called. It was Louis. He motioned Daniela over to come over to him. "Sorry. I have to go. Enjoy." Daniela apologized and she walked over to Louis. Felix looked at Louis. Louis noticed and glared at Felix. Felix glared back and walked back to his table.
"Hey." greeted Daniela. "What were you doing with Felix?" asked Louis. "I gave him a gingerbread cookie. That reminds me . . ." Daniela searched through her bag. She pulled a gingerbread boy. It's head was decorated with black frosting for hair. It had a black shirt and blue pants. The shirt had a small red heart. She handed it to Louis. "My mom decorated it and when I saw it, it reminded me of you . . ." Daniela said shyly. Louis blushed then smiled, "It's nice, thanks." he said happily. Daniela blushed. Frank started to laugh. Everyone at the table including Daniela and Louis stared at Frank. "What's so funny?" asked Louis. "Oh nothing." Frank said and looked at Daniela. Daniela noticed and blushed harder. Frank laughed again. "Frank, what is so funny?" Louis asked, confused. "Ha ha . . . Daniela . . . Ha ha!" Frank managed to say. "What?" wondered Daniela. "It's nothing . . ha ha . . . really. It's nothing." assured Frank. Louis stared at Frank. Frank finally managed to stop his laughing. "I'm sorry, I couldn't help but laugh." apologized Frank, grinning. "Right." Louis said looking suspiciously at Frank.
"Ooo, can I have one Daniela?" asked May as she placed her lunch tray on the table."Sure. I have plenty." smiled Daniela. "Me too." said Frank. "Ok." laughed Daniela. She went around the table handing each person one gingerbread cookie.
When she bent over to hand Frank his cookie, he whispered in her ear, "Seeing you blush entertains me." She blushed uncontrollably. Frank laughed. Louis stared at the both of them. "What did you say to her?" asked Louis. "Nothing, don't worry." answered Frank. "Sure." Louis said plainly and he held his hand out to Daniela. Daniela held on to his hand and went over to him. "I might as well hurt him." mumbled Louis. "Please don't, he didn't do anything wrong." pleaded Daniela. "Yeah, right." said Louis. "Lies!" shouted Frank. Louis ignored Frank and nibbled on his cookie. Daniela smiled.

Daniela walked with Louis to their lockers. They pack up and then waited for Melissa. Soon, the three of them walked with the crowd towards the entrance to exit the school. They held each others hand tightly. Suddenly, the crowd started to get in between Daniela and Louis. Melissa and Daniela still stood next to each other, but Louis was starting to get pushed behind. Daniela and Louis tried to hold their grip on each others hand. "Keep . . holding . . on." Louis struggled. "I'm trying." replied Daniela. They soon were holding on just by their fingers. Everyone was shoving and pushing through. "Daniela just let go, he can just catch up with us." suggested Melissa. "No, I am going to hold on." said Daniela. But suddenly their fingertips slipped away and Louis was pushed back. Daniela fell. It felt like Louis and I were holding on to each side of the rope tightly pulling, and someone just cut the rope with scissors, thought Daniela as she rubbed her head. Melissa helped Daniela up and pulled them both into the main office. "I told you to let go, and you fell because you didn't listen to me." scold Melissa. "Oh well." replied Daniela. "Let's just wait for Louis." "Okay, but we better not miss the bus because of this." warned Melissa. "We won't." assured Daniela.
Daniela watched closely looking for Louis. Finally, she saw Louis pushing his way through the crowd. When he was in Daniela's reach, she grabbed Melissa's hand and pushed through to get to Louis. Daniela reached and grabbed Louis' hand. "Dani!" exclaimed Louis. "I thought you went ahead and left when our hands let go." "Why would I? Remember what I told you that day? I said I'd always be there." smiled Daniela. Louis sighed then smiled, "Yeah." They finally exited the school. Louis was going to walk home with Frank and Daniela was going to the bus with Melissa. "Have a Merry Christmas Louis." said Daniela. "Merry Christmas Dani." smiled Louis. They looked in each others eyes. Daniela and Louis squeezed each
others hand, then they let go. Daniela waved bye to Louis. Louis waved back. "You guys are so cute together! I'm jealous." Melissa said excitedly. "Don't because you'll find that one guy who is just right for you." replied Daniela. "Yeah, I guess." agreed Melissa. “Don’t guess, you have to know.” said Daniela. “There is always going to be the right person for everyone, don’t doubt it, just hold on to believing it’s true.” Daniela closed her eyes and smiled, maybe I did find the one for me.
