The Sound of Revenge

The hospital

I received a text from Darcy soon after Drew left my house. He said he was at the hospital with Ryan and Laura and was wondering if I wanted to come down. I did, but I couldn’t drive so I was sort of stuck. I could walk but that would take an hour at least from where my house was. My parents were both working so they couldn’t drop me off either. It turned out that Darcy already had that part planned out. He showed up at my door with his car and his gorgeous smile. I hugged him tight.
“Thank you” I said.
“For what?”
“For getting Drew to come down here” I said.
“That was all him. I only told him about Jarrod but he was going to come here all along” said Darcy.
“Oh, well thanks for telling him” I said.
“No worries.” Darcy kissed me on the forehead and then opened the car door for me. Such a proper gentleman. A rarity now days. He drove to the hospital while I while I waved my arms in the air to the beat of the song.
“I take it you’re in a much better mood now?” he asked.
“Yeah. Much better.”
“That’s good. I love seeing you happy.”
We pulled into the hospital. I saw Laura. She looked sleep deprived and worried but she had a smile on her face when she saw us.
“Hey Samantha” Laura said. Ryan was holding her hand on the other side of her bed.
“Hi. Are you alright?” I asked, though it was obvious she wasn’t.
“Yeah, I’m fine but um the baby died.” A tear streamed down her cheek. As much as I knew Laura didn’t want to be a teen mother, I also knew that it was a loss of a life and for that reason we were all sad. We chatted to Laura for a while until I got a text from my dad telling me that I had to come home. It wasn’t urgent but I did need to leave sooner or later.
“Do you want us to drop you back?” I asked Laura when we found out that she could be out of hospital today.
“No it’s alright, I might get a lift with Ryan. Coby was here a minute ago, but he went to get lunch in Ryan’s car. He should be back soon though” said Laura.
“Ok, well I’ll see you tomorrow?” I asked.
“I’m probably going to stay home for a while. I’m still not completely better.”
“Alright. I hope you get better soon. Bye” I said as Darcy and I walked out of the hospital and back to his car.
