Back to normal - Samantha's POV
“Look at this! It’s so cool! I really want one” I said.“Why don’t you buy it? They would look great on you” said Darcy holding up the Peter Alexander PJ’s that I had been eyeing for the past few weeks.
“I don’t have any money” I said looking down.
“What happened to all that money you started with?” he asked.
“I spent it on something while you were in the toilet.” Now I was smiling. Darcy had done so many great things for me and now it was time for me to say thankyou.
“What did you spend it on?” asked Darcy.
“A gift for you” I said pulling the headphones out behind me. He had told me he wanted them really badly because his previous ones had broken when he was moving out of home.
“Lucky I was prepared” he smiled pulling out a box of chocolates from one of the shopping bags. “Laura told me you were a chocolates girl.”
“Laura knows it!” I laughed. We exchanged the gifts and then turned back to the PJ’s.
“Here I’ll pay” he said passing me a $50 dollar note. They were some expensive PJ’s.
“No. I can’t accept that. You and Mel need that more than I do to buy PJ’s.”
“Well how about you go to the bathroom and I’ll buy it for you. As our one week present” he said, trying to sound convincing.
“One week? No way. It will still be there in a month. I hope” I smiled but though I liked the PJ’s I didn’t care about them. I cared about Darcy.
My phone started going off. It was Laura, but it wasn’t even near lunch time yet. We had arranged to meet at Subway at 12:30 but it was only 11. I answered the call but instead of her voice I heard Ryan’s. Distressed and upset as clear as day.
“You have to come to the eastern escalators right now. Bring Darcy and hurry!” Ryan’s voice cut out. He was gone.
“Who was it?” asked Darcy as I put the phone back into my pocket.
“Ryan. We need to meet him at the eastern escalator. It sounded urgent.”
“Ok. You right to run?” he asked.
“Darcy it’s only my neck that is sore ok?”
“Just checking. How’s your leg going anyway?” asked Darcy.
“We don’t have time. Come on let’s go.”
