Plunging to my death
“Laura, I’m really sorry. That was harsh. I actually really understand” I apologised to Laura.“It’s ok. Let’s just have a good time!” She shouted as she got up off the couch and started dancing.
She was right too. This was the perfect place that I could have fun and forget about Jarrod and all the problems that followed. I went off in another direction to some people dancing in a group. The music was louder there so it was easier for me to dance to the right beat.
“Hey!” I heard a guy shouting behind me.
I figured he wasn’t talking to me and continued on dancing. I started to notice people were thinning out and less people were dancing around me. I sensed someone staring at me.
Oh maybe it’s a guy checking me out, I thought to myself and continued on dancing.
“Miss!” A male voice shouted from behind me. That time it was definitely aimed at me. I turned around. A really cute guy and a couple of his friends were standing right there, looking at me as if I had killed someone.
“Don’t move” the guy said. He looked serious so I just did as he said.
“I don’t want to scare you but there is a crack in the floor about a metre from you. A lady smashed the glass with one of her stilettoes. If you move, chances are the crack will spread and you will be cut by the glass” he said.
So much for not scaring me.
“So what do I do?” I asked in the bravest voice I could manage.
“Just hold on a sec.” As he said this he picked up a piece of wood that was lying next to him. He obviously had a plan. Thank the Lord! Trust me to get into such a situation. The smart less clumsy people (everyone except me) were on the edges of the dance floor and in the lounge. I spotted Laura and Leo staring at the ground on which I was standing on. The guy put the board of wood onto the dance floor and began to slowly step up on it.
“Here” he said holding out his hand. I went to grab it but just as I did the crack in the floor, CRACKED!
