Why I Love My Idols

MIKA

Okay. I don't even know where to start with this one, because I love Mika so much that there is no words for it. He is my everything, and he just means the world to me.

I guess I'll start off by talking about how I became a fan of him.

I was sort of a fan of him when I was younger, when I was about nine years old, because my parents used to always play a downloaded version of his album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much, in the car. I didn't know it was Mika at that age, though. I didn't even know that the songs on the album were all by one person. All I knew was that it was music for the car, and that it was good.

I also remember watching his music videos on the TV all the time, because he was really popular here in England at the time, and I actually remember watching the music video for Grace Kelly on the day that it came out. I heard his songs everywhere, and I remember being the only person who wanted to dance to We Are Golden at a school disco in my primary school.

But then Mika slowly became unpopular, and I forgot about him for a few years, until one day in the summer holidays when I rediscovered him.

When I was twelve, I was bored in the holidays, and I was watching 'theme songs for characters' videos on Youtube, because I sometimes found new songs and artists when I watched them. I clicked on a Monster High one and started watching it, and one of the songs in the video was Popular Song. I think it was for Cleo de Nile's theme song. As soon as I heard the song, I thought, "Wow, this is so catchy."

So I searched for Popular Song and downloaded it, and I loved he song so much. I was obsessed with listening to it for about a month, and then one day I really looked at who sang the song. I knew who Ariana Grande was. But I knew I recognised Mika's name from somewhere, and I couldn't think of where I had heard of him before.

Then I suddenly remembered who he was, and I found the old downloaded copy of The Boy Who Knew Too Much in the back of my drawer. I put it in the computer, and I began to listen to his other songs.

I was amazed at how many of his songs I already knew, without knowing he was the one who sang them. Every time I clicked on a new song, I was like, "This guy made this song? Wow!" And each time I listened to a song, I would think I didn't know it, but then somehow the memories of the songs came back from my childhood, and I immediately remembered all of the lyrics to Mika's songs. So I just sat there listening to them, singing along to them with the words just coming to me naturally.

Then when I had listened to all of the songs on the album, I decided to google Mika. And as soon as I saw what he looked like, I actually almost fell off my chair, because I thought he was the most gorgeous person I had ever seen in my life.

Before I saw what he looked like, I had only really planned to be a casual fan, but in that moment I felt as if he was too perfect for me not to join his fandom. So I did.

And that is how I joined the Mika fandom.

Now I will talk about all of the reasons why I love Mika, because there are so many.

He's so unique and different to most singers nowadays. A lot of singers these days get in trouble and do bad things, and they don't really care about their fans. They write explicit love songs, and they copy other artists. But Mika isn't like that at all. He has stayed himself throughout his career, and he has never done anything awful. He loves his fans a lot and cares about every single one of them, and he makes music about topics he is passionate about. His songs have a lot of meaning and are quite deep, unlike most music today. He says he doesn't want to end up like other singers, and I respect him for being himself and not following the crowd.

He is so gorgeous. His curly hair is so fluffy and cute, and it looks so soft. Sometimes I wish I could just run my hand through it. And his hazel eyes are beautiful too. His eye-smiles practically kill me, and they make him look even more attractive than he already is. His smile is perfect as well, and so is his laugh. Mika has the most adorable laugh, it's just so cute. And his accent as well. I just really like his accent a lot. It just sounds nice, and nobody really has one like him, so I can instantly recognise his voice anywhere. Basically, I don't know how someone can be that cute and that attractive at the same time. Mika is just flawless.

He is so talented. He has a five octave vocal range, and he worked from the age of nine to achieve this. Not many singers can do that, so he really has worked hard. His high notes are just amazing, and his voice is so beautiful. How can he sing that high? And all of his lyrics are so relatable and true. He sings about many different topics, but mostly about being unpopular and getting through things. His songs have helped me through so much things, I can't thank him enough for that.

He really loves his fans. Mika once called us the 'fiercest and loveliest fans ever', and he says he is so lucky to have us. But I'm lucky to have him too, because he's done so much more for me than he will ever know. He also does a lot of favours for his fans, which shows how lovely and kind he is. Not many celebrities are like that, but Mika is different.

He is such a selfless, beautiful person. The world would be a lot better if everyone was as charitable and sweet as him, because he does so much to help other people. He does a lot of charity work with kids in Africa, and he actually gets to know them and treats them like people, rather than someone he's working with for charity. You can tell that he isn't doing it for publicity or anything, and you can see that he really does care. You can't say he doesn't, because he does. He is so inspiring, and I am proud to call him my idol.

He has a really awesome style. I love all of his obscure, colourful outfits, because they're not what most people would wear. Mika wears what he wants to wear, and he has his own kind of fashion. I also love his outfits in his music videos a lot too, because they suit his personality and who he is. He just dresses how he wants, and he doesn't care what anybody thinks of him.

He is just hilarious. Whenever I watch his interviews, I always end up laughing because of something funny he has said. He never fails to make me smile, especially if I'm watching his London 2012 Rock The Games one. That's my favourite of his interviews, and it just makes me laugh a lot because of what he talks about on it. He talks about whooping policemen and the Sports Day he had when he was younger, which is just really funny. He has a lot more hilarious interviews, though.

He has such a lovely personality. He has been through so much, and he's quite broken and scarred, but yet he is still happy. It amazes me how he can be such a colourful, sweet person, when he has had such a bad past. He was severely bullied, and he didn't think he would survive into his twenties. But somehow he managed to get through it all, and that inspires me. It makes me think that if Mika can do it, I can too.

He is also so brave. He has a lot of haters, because of the way that he is, but he doesn't let it get to him. He says that he would rather have people hating on him than ignoring him, and that he doesn't really care about them. He also does other brave things, like filming the music video for We Are Golden. He really wanted to film it, because he had the idea for it, but he was too scared to actually do it. So he had to go through months of training to make him confident enough to actually film the music video, and when he finally felt ready, he ended up making a really cool video.

I really love his style of music. It's not normal pop music, and I really like how he often writes songs about all his little characters rather than himself. I also like how all of his songs have hidden meanings, and how most of them sound happy, but actually have very dark lyrics. When I was younger, I fell in love with Mika's music before I knew what he looked like, because his songs are just amazing.

So, that's all of the reasons why I adore Mika so much. He is just beautiful, on the inside and the outside, and I wish he knew how much he meant to me. He has saved my life countless times, and he was there for me when nobody else was. He is so genuine, he has so much talent, and he is perfect.
