The Matchmaker

Date Part 1

ON SATURDAY

I sat up in my bed. I groaned and yawned. "OMG TODAY'S MY DATE WITH ZACH!" I thought. I smiled and jumped up from my bed. I sent a message in the group chat:

Lindsay: HI HI HI
Silver: why so excited?
Lindsay: I HAVE A DATE!
Silver: :) For the dance?
Lindsay: no... But maybe he'll ask
Silver: OMG! Good luck!
Lindsay: awww! Thanks!
Autumn: wait you have a date?!
Lindsay: YES
Autumn: OMG!
Silver: I'm so happy 4 u!

I put on a nice shirt and some white shorts. I tied my hair back in a high ponytail and put a simple small necklace around my neck. I smiled. I told my dad and mom bye and headed out the door. I spotted Zach sitting on a bench, looking wonderful as always. "Hey Zach!" I said. "Oh, hi Lindsay!" He exclaimed. I sat down next to him. "So... What are you doing?" I asked. I peered onto the screen of his phone.

"Oh, just making some... Uh, arrangements for school." He said. I nodded. "So, what's your favorite class?" I asked. I bit my tongue right after I said that. That sounded like the type of question a 3rd grader would ask. Luckily, he laughed. "Probably reading. I get to do whatever I want." He sighed. "READING?!" I exclaimed surprised. He nodded with a hint of smile.

We kept talking for a long while, then I got bored and went over to one of the old swing sets. "I haven't been on a swing in AGES!" I laughed. Zach smiled and went behind the swing set. "Me neither..." He said longingly as he pushed my swing. I laughed as I felt the cool breeze. "The last time I was on one was in 5th grade!" Zach exclaimed as he kept pushing my swing. "Why don't you get on one?" I exclaimed through the wind. Zach laughed. "Not right now."
