Annnd....Exit Mayori
Mayori's POVIt had been roughly a week since I started traveling with the Inuyasha Gang (as I call them privately), and we had collected a very small Sacred Jewel fragment from a lucky encounter with a mad bear demon in the forest. There had been otherwise no progress, and Inuyasha was getting, for lack of a better word, pissy.
He would complain at every little thing, ranging from Kagome's homemade bentos to the inability to not sleep for a full two days like him for humans.
It was seriously getting on my last nerve.
I was popped suddenly from my angry thoughts atop Kirara's back when Inuyasha skidded to a stop at the front of the group and sniffed the air with wide eyes. Kirara was forced to come to a screeching halt, so as not to hit him and Kagome, who was riding on Inuyasha's back.
He quickly set Kagome down without looking at her, and continued to sniff the air. I narrowed my eyes at him, suddenly coming to a realization of what it probably was. Kikyo, the damn previous incarnation of Kagome, who had stolen a part of her soul and then selfishly kept it so she could steal Kagome's man. When she was supposed to be six feet under.
Inuyasha muttered a half-assed excuse to the rest of us, something along the lines of 'gotta go do something', then ran off into the trees. Kagome looked furious, and ready to S-I-T him into next week. I gently shook my head at her, and placed a placating hand on her shoulder.
"I'll go after him," I whispered. "You stay here with Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Kirara."
She looked like she was about to argue, but I just gave her a look. She deflated, sighing, before nodding and turning back to explain the situation to the rest of the gang. I watched her for a second, suddenly getting a weird feeling, like I wasn't going to see them again for a while. I shook it off, squaring my shoulders and marching into the woods, only my sword with me.
I followed Inuyasha's tracks for a while, dodging through underbrush and climbing over logs in an effort to take the shortest path. Eventually, I made it to a small clearing, one with Inuyasha and Kikyo in the middle, embracing each other. I made a noise of displeasure in the back of my throat.
Even though Kagome and Inuyasha ended up together in the end, I was still disgusted. For one, Inuyasha was hugging a freaking dead girl. And for another, Kikyo died a while ago, giving her soul to Kagome, therefore giving her no rights whatsoever to try and take back her old life. Caught up in my thoughts as I was, I didn't notice the arrow speeding toward me until the last second. My eyes caught a glimpse of a cold Kikyo holding her freshly fired longbow before it plunged into my heart, killing me instantly.
My last thought before leaving the mortal coil was, 'That bitch...'
And then I felt myself die, a face of shock and anger twisted on my face in my last moments, blood pooling on the ground from the fatal wound I had been dealt.
