The Fight of Broken Hearts
“How did they-”“It doesn’t matter,” (Y/N) replies, standing in a fighting position, “These are the UA students you described to me.”
“(Y/N)-chan!” I yell, “Do you remember me?! We’re your friends!”
The girl’s stance wavers but she glares, “Why would I be friends with a false hero?”
I flinch at the insult but I decide not to take it to heart.
“Get them!” Shigaraki yells.
The whole League of Villains charge forward. Midoryia stomps, breaking the earth beneath his feet and creating a barrier between the two groups. I freeze the entire area, being sure to cover the entirety of the villains while keeping (Y/N) free. She attempts to help her new “friends” but I create a dome that only holds herself, Bakugo, Midoryia and I.
“(Y/N)-chan,” I whisper, “Please. The league lied to you. They manipulated your memories so that you’re against us. You have to believe me! US! At least let us show you something.”
She creates a wall of energy between the two of us and sighs, “How am I supposed to trust you? You’d easily be able to do the same thing if they did. And if you’re lying, I’d put the league in harm’s way.”
Without saying another word, she takes down the wall between us and charges forward as she covers herself completely in (F/C) energy. I dodge but Midoryia and Bakugo stand their ground. Bakugo fires an A.P shot at her while Midoryia charges up his power and throws a punch.
She dodges both.
And comes straight for me instead.
I quickly melt the dome around us, revealing that our classmates made it inside and began fighting the league members. Small groups of them have singled out each one of the villains and it seems that some are close to winning.
(Y/N)’s face twists with anger and she begins to boil with rage.
I’ve never seen her like this before. Did they change more about her than we thought? Her eyes begin to burn with fury as her power grows. She wraps kinetic energy around all of the villains separately. My classmates fail to win against their opponents, so we regroup.
“We warned you,” Shigaraki mutters, “Trying to take her from us will never work! She will not be a false hero like the rest of you!”
(Y/N) calms slightly, turning to Shigaraki, “I think it’s best to leave. This fight could go on for hours. We don’t have time for that.”
“No!” I reply, jumping forward, “(Y/N)-chan, please! I can’t lose you, not again! You have to remember something about me. They may have wiped your memories away but they can’t erase your heart. There has to be something inside of you that’s screaming that this is wrong!”
She turns back to look at me. At first, I thought she would agree or at least say that something felt off. Instead, she creates a wall to ignore me.
“It’s best if we leave now too,” Iida says, “I’m sorry.”
I fall to my knees, “No..”
Midoryia pats my back, “I’m not giving up either, Todoroki-kun. But Iida’s right. We should go back to UA and make a plan. Maybe there’s someone out there with a quirk to reverse amnesia.”
Despite myself, I let them help me up and we head back to UA high.
-----
It’s only been one day since our class attempted to save (Y/N) from the villains and somehow, the entire world has caught wind of it. There are more protests popping up everyday. It’s starting to become dangerous for us to leave the building. Everywhere you turn, there’s some sort of protest to go save (Y/N).
As Midoryia, Iida and I sit in front of the TV, the news comes on.
“As I speak, pro heroes from around Japan are searching the known locations of the League of Villains to save the popular hero, Genkina. It’s been confirmed that she was brainwashed by Shigaraki Tomura and has all of her memories wiped. There may not be any hope for her...they waited too long.”
Midoryia turns off the TV, “Any luck thinking about what we can use to ‘jog her memory’ of us?”
I shake my head, holding my head in my hands, “No. Every time I get an idea, logic contradicts it.”
Iida sighs, “Then maybe it’s time that we forget logic. What was your idea?”
------------
As the heroes attempt to arrest the villains, as well as convince (Y/N) to come back. She’s protecting them all with an energy shield.
“There’s no hope,” Endeavor sighs, “So long that she’s on their side, we’ll never be able to arrest them.:
Hawks chuckles, “Then maybe we should bring your son next time.”
“He and his classmates failed as well, though.”
“Then he didn’t admit what he really wanted to say to her.”
“Maybe..”
Eventually, the heroes decide to retreat. But this time, they have a plan. And soon it would be put in place.
----------
I still don’t understand heroes. Why are they trying to save me? I’m perfectly fine here. I can’t help but admit, something is off. Nothing is adding up anymore. Shigaraki and the others told me that heroes were selfish bastards who have nothing in mind except money and fame. But when the heroes came, the #1, Endeavor seemed terrified.
I remember it so clearly.
“Genkina! (L/N)-chan, please! My son just wants you home. I can’t leave here until you’re safe.”
His words replay again and again in my head. I don’t even know who his son is. If it was someone important, the league would’ve told me.
But something tells me otherwise.

Play “Final Conclusion” by Mark Petrie.
Although (Y/N)’s on the right track, considering her instincts, she won’t be able to figure out the truth in time.
Not even two days after the pro heroes attempted “rescue,” the League of Villains attack. A group of lowly villains crowd the front gate of UA High, yelling and banging on it. Present Mic and Midnight approach first.
“What’s so important that you all have gotta bang on our door like that?” He asks.
Four villains jump the two teachers, allowing the rest to push past and get inside UA. The alarm to warn the other faculty members and students immediately begins blaring.
But a voice rings out as well.
“Villains have managed to get inside UA High. The school will now go into lockdown-mode.”
Shigaraki orders the lowly villains to continue holding the faculty’s attention while the main crew, himself, (Y/N), Spinner, Twice, Dabi, Toga and Mr. Compress sneak around the main building.
They get around to the back and (Y/N) uses her energy to hoist her crew members, allowing them to look through the windows. The back of the building seems completely empty so the crew decides to sneak back to the school’s dorm rooms. But (Y/N) pauses, holding her head as the group stops to check on her.
“What’s wrong?” Toga asks.
“I think..” She cringes as the pain hits again, “I think I just got a memory back.”
Shigaraki, although terrified, sits beside her, “What one is it?”
“I remember..when I went to UA..wait I went to UA!?”
“We had you undercover as a student.” Dabi quickly answers.
“Oh. Well, I remember Eraserhead saying that in the case of a lockdown, we’d all go to Gym Gamma.”
“Then we’re going there first.”
----------
All of UA high’s hero study students gathered in Gym Gamma. All other students are in one of the exam areas.
Surprisingly, it’s completely silent.
There are no teachers other than All Might and the entire school is completely calm and under control. I wonder how the other classes are doing.
Who would even try to attack one of the most prestigious schools in Japan?
I can only think of one group, the League of Villains.
Just as we assumed, Shigaraki, (Y/N), and the other members of the LoV appear at the doors of Gym Gamma.
So it’s true, (Y/N)’s memories can be unlocked if she’s near objects that impacted her life. For Gym Gamma, the association between villains and UA high brought the memory of Aizawa telling us where we’d go during a lockdown.
That means, if we can bring back her memory of me, everything else should come rushing back.
Keep in mind, this is Midoryia’s theory.
So it’ll work.
We jump into action as the LoV appears. They had no idea that we knew they’d eventually attack so we planned in advance.
Close-combat fighters like Kirishima and Midoryia were sat near the front and back doors of the gym. While medium-ranged fighters that could fight both long-range and close-combat, like me, were stationed in the middle. The long-distance fighters were in between the medium and close-combat students.
The teachers planned to make quick work of any villains that were brought as decoys and hide out until the main group realized where we were. Then, once the main villains were fighting us, they’d close them in.
Shigaraki laughs as he makes eye contact with me, “Well well, it seems that our plans were foiled. You knew that we’d attack..”
“You’ll never be one step ahead of UA, villain.” Iida replies, as everyone stands their ground.
And the fight begins.
I can’t see (Y/N) anywhere, but right now, all we need to do is keep the villains distracted long enough for the rest of the teachers to get here and arrest them. Then, we can focus on bringing the real (Y/N) (L/N) back.
Despite there being many more students than LoV members, we can’t seem to overwhelm them enough. That’s when I realize that (Y/N) is most likely outside, creating shields of energy to block our attacks.
“Iida-kun, Midoryia-kun, we’ve gotta get (Y/N) in here. She must be outside, preventing our attacks from hitting.” I tell them.
“I agree.”
So the three of us rush outside, finding (Y/N) sitting down under a tree with her eyes closed. Once we clench our fists and prepare to fight her, her eyes open wide and she spins around to face us.
As if she could sense us.
“How did you-”
“Why would I explain it to lowly heroes like yourselves?” She retorts, chuckling and charging forward.
But thanks to Midoryia, we’ve figured out (Y/N)’s biggest weakness.
(Y/N) will think about others more than herself.
So, his hypothesis is that (Y/N) will be weakened faster because she will keep the barriers for her “friends” up as long as she has to.
“I’m assuming you can sense energy now?” Midoriya questions as we jump over (F/C) kinetic energy that she’s thrown at us, “You can sense any energy put into movement. That’s why you can create an energy shield around the other league members because you know which one their energy is.”
“Shut up, broccoli!”
As soon as she says the nickname, her eyes widen and she drops to the ground.
“You remember..”
She blinks multiple times before cringing and grabbing her head in pain. When the pain finally stops she glances at the three of us with concerned eyes.
“I..I remember calling you that. We were friends back when I used to go here. I-” She shakes the thought from her head, “That..that was a long time ago. Things have changed.”
“No, they haven’t,” Midoryia replies, “You were kidnapped and had your memories wiped. Things would’ve been the same if that never happened.”
She stares at us, shutting her eyes and taking a breath, “I’m- I’m sorry, I just I can’t trust you guys. My memories might be unreliable but I can’t risk it. The league told me that you guys betrayed me..or something like that.”
“But (Y/N)-”
“I just can’t okay?!” She yells.
The ground cracks into many pieces as she stomps her foot. Her eyes quickly flash (F/C) and suddenly, I feel like passing out.
Has she learned how to take energy from others without touching them?
No, that’s not what this is. I guess I was overwhelmed by adrenaline and didn’t realize how tired and stressed out I was. (Y/N) covers the three of us in energy to prevent us from moving and heads inside Gym Gamma.
She must be distracted because she lets the three of us out of the energy prison. We rush inside the building as well. Once we’ve entered, we’re stuck staring at a sight that I will never soon forget.
(Y/N) heavily breathes as (F/C) energy seeps out of her eyes, mouth and nose. It lingers on her fingertips, swirling in a mini-tornado. Her veins have even begun to glow (F/C), blinking every time her heartbeats.
The members of the League of Villains are also glowing (F/C).
Which means…
(Y/N) has figured out how to give energy or power to others without touching them.
It’s going to be harder than we first thought to bring her back.
