Countless tries
Sapphire's POV"The goddess out did herself this time." The parrot boy comments glancing over the drawings. "Who knew what represents you could kill you!"
"They'll kill us?!" Maria panics and franticly rubs the back of her hand trying to erase the drawing.
"Yes. They're drawn with poison. Each time you die another is added until all of you are covered with them! Each new decoration added will send another speckle if poison into your blood stream until it'll kill you, only this time, you won't wake up!" The laughs hysterically once again. "But I'll give you a chance. Fight me, hurt me, kill me!" He orders gesturing to the knife still in my hands. "If you don't kill me, I'll kill you" I share a glance with my friends and scowl.
"No" I mutter dropping the knife. The boy seems shocked.
"What?" He asks.
"I said no! I don't want to hurt anyone!" Jackie nods.
"Yeah! We can make it out if here without having to kill anyone!" I smile gratefully at her and she shares my smile. The others agree. The parrot boy chuckles.
"Is that so?" He takes another knife from his pocket. "You will all be dead before tomorrow" Slash. Blood. Darkness.
Normal POV
The girls ask how to exit the dimension, and still, the parrot boy stops them, again and again and again. And still, he challenges them to a fight, threatening to tear them apart. Still, they refuse to fight back. They should be able to dodge now that they’ve fought the same battle twice, but Sapphire jumps to the side too late and the knife hits her eye. She screams as everything soon becomes numb. Calista, Jackie, Crimson and Maria yell her name somewhere behind her before Sapphire feels the ground being pulled underneath their feet and when she opens her eyes, she's staring at the the same sky once again.
“Sapphire?” Calista whispers, “Sapphire! Sapphire, are you okay?” Her chest feels too tight when she breathes so she puts a hand on it to steady herself. Everything is spinning.
"Did we die again?" The blue hedgehog asks as she accepts her friends help to lift her from the ground.
"No, actually" Crimson mutters. "Just you. Seems though even if one of us dies we all get sent back here
There’s another forget me not on Sapphire's temple, none of the others had gained a new drawing this time, only her, but no one decides to mention it.
Everyone forgets how many times they ask the parrot boy to let them leave, forgets how many times they beg, forgets how many times they yell for freedom, forgets how many times they’re killed and forgets how many times the voice at the back of their head says, “Don't kill. Stay strong. Don't kill. Stay strong.” All they know is that every time they die and wake up to the same part of sky that they’ve memorized every detail of, there’s a new drawing on them. Sapphire is the most clumsy and gullible of them all so of course she has the most. It takes a long time – when the flowers have covered half her face and a part of her left wrist – that they finally dodge the last attack the parrot boy has to give before he breaks down.
"I don't want to kill! I never got to choose! I want to leave this dimension! I want to live in Mobius" the five friends share a look.
"Can you tell us where to go?" The child nods and points forward. So they carry on, little do they know of what's to come.
