Shifting hearts (fanfic story)

Trouble

As carmen was walking home, she noticed her step-father talking to an unknown person and immediately she knew something was up. Camilo ran up behind her and tapped her shoulder making her squeak but she sighed in relief when it was just camilo "camilo don't do that you scared me!" She held back a laugh and camilo chuckled "sorry Hermosa" he smirked knowing exactly what he said. Carmen blushed and smiled "Hermosa huh?" Camilo nodded.

Camilo held carmen by her waist and kissed her, shocking her but she melted into the kiss and kissed back. When they pulled away carmen smiled sweetly and camilo blushed with a shy smile. Out of nowhere, something came flying at the two and camilo quickly tackled carmen to the ground saving them both from what seemed to be a knife. Carmen panicked and held tightly onto camilo when she saw her step-father quickly dodge the knife and look over at her and camilo.

Altair slightly growled seeing camilo on top of his daughter and started walking over. Camilo looked down at carmen "are you ok hermosa?" He asked getting off of her and offering his hand. Carmen took camilos hand and nodded "yea i think so... Thx camilo" she said and camilo nodded before seeing altair approach looking quite angry. "And just what are you doing with my daughter?" Altair asked causing camilo to gulp. Carmen rolled her eyes and crossed her arms "oh please you aren't my real dad and you've never been there for me! You barely payed attention to me and you've been abusing me the last couple weeks!" Carmen raised her voice a bit.

Camilos p.o.v:
"Oh please you aren't my real dad and you've never been there for me! You barely payed attention to me and you've been abusing me the last couple weeks!" I heard carmen raise her voice at her dad and my heart sank when she said she was getting abused. I liked carmen and I couldn't imagine her getting abused, she was so sweet. I wanted to hold her protectively but her father was a bit intimidating.

"You'll never find anyone better than me carmen!" Her father said and carmen smirked "i think i already have! Camilos family!" She replied and i smiled. I certainly loved her and i had a good feeling my family would love her too. She was already good friends with my sister and my cousin, mirabel. I watched as Carmen's father raised his hand to slap her and she flinched but i quickly stood in the way and i was slapped instead.

Both carmen and her step dad stared at me in shock and i looked at carmen with a small pained smile. Carmen hugged me tightly and quickly yelled at her father before dragging me away back to casita.

Carmen's p.o.v:
I couldn't believe camilo took the hit for me, i was concerned and quickly dragged him back to casita where his family was trying to look for him. "Felix!!!" I shouted getting his attention and he quickly ran over seeing camilo had been slapped he turned to me as if asking what happened.

"My father went to hit me but camilo jumped in front of me and took the hit instead..." I told him which shocked felix. I could tell he was proud of his son for standing up but he was also concerned for him. "Thank you for bringing him back" felix said. "of course...i...i love him" i replied  which made felix smile and camilo had the goofiest smile on his face "i-" he started to say but i quickly cut him off smirking.

"Save it for later muchaco i barely know you" i said and camilo only laughed and nodded before his father guided him to pepa. I sighed and had a really bad feeling about something, I didn't know what it was but i know it wasn't good. I knew mirabel would be breaking casita but there was a greater threat than that. I just hope my senses are wrong and that everything will be fine, I don't want anything to happen to the madrigal family.
