Before Trial
While we drove I looked down at my locketIt was my mother's and Sabina had given it to me when she died.
I never took it off because I always felt safe with it on and that some how my mom was still here and with me. In it was a picture of my four older siblings Radcliff, Sabina, Kadin, and Bailee. They were the ones who had become my parents and had active roles in my life. Mabelle was quiet and reserved while Jacalyn was more of protector now than anything. When we arrived at the court house the girls rushed me into the bathroom and fixed any smudges and prepped and comforted. Baliee gave me the don't embarrass me speech, Sabina gave me the make me proud speech, Mabelle and Jacalyn just stood there and watched. Sabina stood up straighter and said to all of us,"This is very important everyone ,but just remember that whatever happens we will always be there for each other." Everyone looked at one another and smiled at least everyone but me.
I felt that fear that you get when you know something is gonna happen but you don't know what it is yet. Before I could finish my thought Sabina pulled me into a hug and squeezed hard and to make matters worse every joined even Jacalyn.
"Can't breathe," I said with an exasperated tone and everyone laughed. We walked out hand in hand and grabbed the boys. We then sauntered into the court room took our seats behind dad and held each other tight when the trial began.
