Walk
"I am skipping makeup. I want you natural." she said before putting a little lip gloss on and stepping back with a few good nods before turning me to face the mirror. I looked at myself before leaving the room and heading downstairs to the dining room where Adrian was waiting with my family. Radcliff and Adrian jumped up to pull my chair out for me but Radcliff looked at him harshly before pulling the chair. We ate rare steaks with some green beans as well as potatoes. After dinner Uncle told us to go for a walk in the gardens and I wasn't to happy about but I went without a word. We walked until we came to the old willow tree and sat down but his hand accidentally touched mine. We shrunk away from each other but soon moved back. I was playing with my hair excessively like I do when I am nervous but he grabbed my hand.
"Here let me help you," he said kindly and set to work taking out the pins until my hair fell in curls down my back.
"Thanks," I said quietly feeling the soft curls and avoiding his gaze.
"I am sorry about all this and that day in the cabin," he said while running a hand through his hair. I couldn't respond just yet so I nodded. We lapsed into an awkward silence until we decided to head in we passed my favorite place and I had to stop. The rose garden had changed it used to be full of white roses that were always in bloom. When I looked now the flowers were turning black and some were dropping with blood. What once was a sweet perfume was now a dank and musty smell. I stared and let out a shrill scream; and not realizing I had Adrian ran up behind me before I fainted. When I came to I was in my room and Sabina was squeezing my hand. I turned to her and said something that made everyone's heart stop. Adrian had whipped his head between everyone not sure what had happened.
"Lacee, what did you say?"
"He is back."
