Chapter 13
"Avoiding? I thought she was actually trying to be social with you. I mean, she's so shy." Aaronn states, rubbing his neck."I thought she was me distant so no I would get sick," Mich replies, pointing out my cough mask.
"And this, Kathy, is why my gender sucks. They're stupid."
"I-i see..." I reply to the boy.
"Anyway, let's go. These Losers can leave without you. You can do better than idiots like these."
He pulls me away from the other boys, leaving them confused. As he pulls, I attempt to tell him I need to get to my locker. I finally try to stop him from walking.
"Um... Joey..." I mutter.
"What's up, bunny?"
"B-bunny?"
"Oh, my nickname for you."
"Anyway, I needed to get into my locker..."
"... ugh, they better not be there, or I will have a brogasm."
"A... what?"
"A brogasm."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Bromance... thingy..."
"Is it some weird slang you use?"
"Yep... don't question any further, bunny."
In silence, we go back to my locker. I put things in and take things out. Finally, we head home. After a couple minutes, we're talking again. Soon we walk near the park, and we see a boy about our age. I notice that he's wearing another middle school's themed hoodie. He has a basketball, laughing at... Mich? Wait, what?
"So the girl you like rejected both you and that other guy? AND she went off with someone else, who's probably gay? That's hilarious! Dude, I want to meet her." The boy laughs, tossing his ball up.
"And let you, my twin, steal her? Not a chance, Colin!" Mich laughs back, stealing the ball away from the boy.
"Wuss. Knowing your taste, she's probably a-"
"Dude, shut up! She's actually the sweetest, shyest girl ever. She's like... a puppy!"
"Really? Now I really want to meet her. I need to see if your lying."
Joey tugs me into the park, surprising me. I freak out telling him it's a bad idea, a very bad idea. He hides behind a tree, a bit away from the basketball courts.
"Okay, bunny, we are going to make this a huge coincidence and we're taking a shortcut through the park. Got it?" Joey explains.
"I-i think so, Joey..."
"Great, c'mon."
He takes my hand and we walk towards the courts and Joey looks at the two boys.
"Look, Kathy! It's Mich. Let's go talk to him." Joey says, loud enough to catch both of the boys' attention.
"E-eh? U-um... okay. If you want, Joey." I reply, feeling a warmth on my cheeks.
"Kathy? Joey? What're you doing here?" Mich asks us.
"We're just going to my house to do homework together, and the park is a shortcut. Right, bunny?"
"I don't really know, Joey. I mean, it's my first time going to your house."
"... oh, yeah... whatever. So, who's that Mich?"
"Oh... uh... This is Colin... my, uh... friend."
"Dude, don't lie about who I am!" Colin jokingly yells at Mich, before taking my hand, "So, you must be Kathy. You're cuter than I thought."
"I-i-i-i... u-u-um... th-thank you..." I stutter, then blush madly when he winks at me.
Suddenly, I'm enveloped in arms of someone taller. I look up and blush again, seeing Mich.
"Don't flirt with her so casually in front of me, jerk." Mich growls.
