The 'Idol Hate' Rant
One of the things that I really hate is when people make fun of other people's idols. It's just horrible, because if someone has an idol, chances are they mean the world to them. And if someone just starts insulting them and hating on them, then it will probably hurt as much as if they were insulting them personally. It's awful when people do this, because that celebrity could seem like just another famous person to you, but they could have saved someone's life or helped them through something bad in their lives.
The person hating on the other person's idol probably doesn't even know anything about that celebrity, and the person that idolises them would probably know a lot more about them and love them for who they are. You shouldn't hate on people that you don't know anything about, because you're going to be wrong. And if you can't say anything nice about someone that another person loves more than anything, then just don't say anything at all.
And if the person who idolises the celebrity you are hating on is already going through a lot, then it could even cause them to start crying or even have a panic attack. I know this, because I have panic attacks myself, and when I hear people hating on Mika, I nearly always end up panicking and crying, because it just hurts so much to hear people saying things like that about him. I just can't deal with things like that, because it hurts a lot more than if people were making fun of me.
I also really hate when someone is in a room full of people, like a classroom, and they start hating on a celebrity. What if someone in the same room as you idolises that celebrity? You could have really hurt them. Once in Geography, we were allowed to request songs to listen to while we worked on the teacher's computer, and some people in the class picked songs that other people didn't like. Someone picked a song by Taylor Swift, and the whole class literally started talking about how Taylor was an 'anorexic rat'. Which is just horrible, because what if there was a Swiftie in the room? That could have seriously upset them, because it would be so awful to hear people saying things like that about your idol.
And I know that people would say that they know what people in their class are like, and that they 'know' who people idolise, but you really don't. Someone could be hiding the fact that they're a fan of someone so that they don't get bullied for it, or something like that. Like me with Mika, except that I already get bullied and people are starting to find out that I'm a fan of him now, because of people like TheDoctorsQueen and HeyHoHereWeGo telling people about my personal business. And even if nobody in your class is actually a secret fan of anyone, it still doesn't make it right to hate on celebrities. Nobody deserves hate, because celebrities are only human like us all, and they deserve love from the people that actually care about them and respect.
I actually got an ask on my Tumblr a few months ago about this topic, as I talked about it in one of my daily posts. Someone sent me quite a horrible message disagreeing with me, and they said that celebrities didn't have the right to be the only people not getting hate, and that hate on them was to be expected, as they were famous. They said that hate was part of life, and that it was just the same as an opinion.
That is wrong in a lot of ways. Firstly, I don't mean that celebrities should be able to be the only people free from hate while everyone else still gets made fun of. I don't believe anyone else should get hate either, because that's like bullying. And as a victim of bullying, I am strongly against that, as strongly as I am against celebrity hate. Secondly, hate on celebrities is not to be expected, it's just common because of how horrible most people are these days. Just because hate already exists, doesn't mean you have to add to it. Thirdly, hate isn't a part of life. It exists, but as I said before, you don't have to hate on people just because you can. You can choose to be better than that. And fourth, hate is not the same as an opinion. Hate is like, "Oh, I hate this celebrity, they're ugly and their music is terrible!" while an opinion is like, "I don't really like this celebrity, they're not my style of music." There is a difference, and too many people get them mixed up.
Basically, celebrity hate is just mean, and it can hurt people, so you shouldn't say anything horrible about others' idols.

Also, joking is a way to cope with things. 9/11, people get depressed hearing it. I guess someone wanted people to not feel so guilty even though its not their fault.
