Chapter 27- Tribulation
A lone noble sat upon a throne, riches splayed out all around him.His purple wings on his back, silver tips almighty.
He carried himself ever so proud, and concealed his true intentions...
"Servant, Bring me my nephew."
"Is it time, my lord?"
He nodded.
"It is time."
The servant rushed out, and the lord gathered a smug smile on his face.
This was the day he would gain control over one of the biggest families in the Angel Kingdom.
All he had to do was kill his useless nephew, and there would be no heir besides him to the riches.
He was so confident, so sure...
He hadn't realised yet what had happened.
"Sir! Sir! Your nephew has escaped!"
"What!? How could this happen??"
"We're not sure sir. According to the guards, he had stolen a weapon from the treasury, and had hurt their legs so they could not run."
"What treasure?!"
"The Scythe of Souls."
The lord growled, and stood up, pacing back and forth.
"We need to retrieve it. NOW. Before disaster strikes."
"But we can't, sir. We have no idea where he went."
"Track him damn you!" The noble shouted, banging his fist against the arms of his chair. The servant quickly hurried out to spread the orders.
I panted, running as fast as my feet could carry me. The trees rushed by, and my legs felt like lead. I heard barks of the white wolves, and I knew I was being tracked. I spread my wings, and flew upward, through the trees. Suddenly I felt a piercing, biting, pain stab into my right wing. With a cry, I plummeted downward onto the soft grass.
I landed hard, wincing. As I looked up I saw the guards closing in fast. I scrambled to my feet and drew the scythe. I had no idea how to use it, but instinct told me I had no choice.
"Halt!" The lead guard bellowed, and all of the knights stopped. They then surrounded me. My right wing was limp, dragging on the ground to hopefully save some pain.
"Well well well, its the little half breed welp. Running away, I see?"
I growled and spat at them.
"Your going to try and kill me."
"Well that depends how you see it. Are you going to fight here, or are you going to die there? Though.. if I'm being honest.. you won't last long either way."
The guard smiled, showing some golden teeth, and hefted his sword.
"Now drop the weapon, hands behind your head, and wings tucked against your back."
They took a few steps closer. I growled, my mind made up.
And I swung my scythe.
I gasped and opened my eyes. All was darkness. All was emptiness. I floated among the abyss, lonely as can be.
I growled, disgusted with myself. I thought I had forgotten my past... And yet here I was dreaming about it.
I sighed and went back to bed. I should have known nightmares don't go that easily.
