Chapter 20- Shadows
Before I could open my mouth Blaise knocked on my door. I glanced at her, but when I looked at Nightmare again he was gone.I shuddered.
"Scratch? Are you ok?"
"Yeah I.. I'm fine."
"Who were you talking to?"
"Nobody."
She raised a eyebrow and went up to me, placing a gentle hand on my cheek.
"You know you can tell me anything, right? I'll always be here for you."
I laughed weakly, and held her hand in my own.
"It's going to sound crazy."
"I'm ok with crazy."
"No, it.. Its really crazy. You won't believe me."
"Really, Scratch? Really?"
"What?"
"You turned into a Night angel before my very eyes, almost killed Solus, and acted really crazy."
"Well I-"
"Let me finish. Do you really think I'm not used to crazy? Come on man."
I sighed.
"There's this really scary guy that just appeared. He's in my mind or something and I think he's trying to-"
"I'm right here."
I flinched as Nightmare appeared out of nowhere. Blaise did more then that. She jumped backwards and brought out her spear, cursing under her breathe.
Nightmare was leaning against a bookcase, with his arms crossed, looking at us.
"You know... Its rude talking about someone behind their back."
"Its also rude to just come out of nowhere! Who even are you??" Blaise demanded.
"Seriously. Again. What is with you people and names? It doesn't change anything."
"It gives us a name to put on your grave now tell me what your doing in my boyfriends head!"
I went bright red as blush blossomed on my cheeks. I did not know she considered me her boyfriend.
Blaise shoved the tip of her spear under Nightmares chin, as if to stab upwards and through his brain. He didn't move.
"You have a lot of anger issues."
"And I'll become your issue if you don't give us some straight answers."
"Really? You wouldn't do anything. Go ahead, stab me. Just not in the head please."
She looked skeptical, then lowered her spear and stabbed him in the midsection. He winced slightly but otherwise didn't react. I could tell that he DID feel something. He was hiding it. Some silver blood dripped from his chin. As Blaise pulled the spear out of him she saw the blood and gasped.
She looked him in the eye.
"Who-" Was all she managed to say before he punched her, knocking her against the far wall. Instantly I brought out my sword-knife and stood between them.
Nightmare ignored me and wiped the blood from his lips, seemingly unaffected. But then, what was that we just saw..?
"You people bore me. Why are you so interested in what I am and not?"
"Because you just appeared out of nowhere and started creeping us out."
"Excuse me, I am doing my job mortal."
Blaise got up, pure rage on her face. The dark intensity of her eyes seemed to make the bright colours of her wings glow. Then I realised, they WERE glowing. In her anger she summoned forth a formidable amount of magic.
"Blaise wait-"
I cried out as a white hot mental spike bore its way into my brain, tearing into my very core. The spike seemed to twist and turn, making the pain ever worse. I clutched my head and fell onto my knees.
Blaise glared at nightmare, who was also being attacked in a similar way. Except he just cringed from the pain, standing upright like a statue.
"Your on, shadow man."
