Chapter 19- Monsters Within
I froze, my neck tingling where her spear touched."Scratch... Stop."
My face darkened. I looked back and realised that throughout the whole fight I was losing myself. I was getting carried away, toying with Solus instead of actually fighting him. I felt disgusted with myself.
"L-lets... Lets go home."
She nodded and lowered her spear. I looked up at solus, still flapping in the air. He looked back.
After a moment i turned away and held Blaises hand. We vanished into darkness.
I laid in bed. all day I was thinking about the events that transpired. We were now in a apartment, having been teleporting all of my old stuff into here. I simply couldn't stay in the same place as Solus. It wasn't right anymore.
NOTHING was right anymore.
"about time you figured that out."
I froze. The voice sounded like it came from right next to me, but i didn't see anyone.
"Who are you?"
I sat up and looked around. His voice made me flinch, tingles going down my spine.
"Does it matter who i am? Or what I am for that matter? I think not."
I looked around again, desperate to find the owner of the voice. His voice was deep, and dark. It reminded me of two bones grinding together. The thought made me shiver.
"Why.. Why are you here?"
They were quiet for a moment.
"I'm here because I have to be. Isn't it obvious? I'm surprised you had the tenacity to ask that question."
I bit my lip. The way he spoke sounded almost sarcastic, like everything and everyone was useless and he knew it.
"Show yourself. I hate talking to myself."
"I'm already here. "
With a jolt I turned. I could have sworn no-one was there before, but i now saw someone leaning against a wall next to my bed, his long raven black hair tied back in a braid. He wasn't facing me, but the power off of him was incredible. His face was hidden by some hair, but i could tell he was pale, although darker skinned. He was looking at his nails, which were black and filed to be points at the tips. He wore all black, dark mist faintly going around his legs. I swallowed, and felt blood rush out of my face. He was the definition of evil, of fear even. I had no idea why but I was scared of him.
I saw him smile, showing pure white teeth and a pointy demon like fang.
"As you should be."
"What..? "
"You should be scared."
Did he just read my mind..?
"No. I'm in your mind. There's a difference"
I flinched.
"What can I call you..? What's your name..?"
"like I said, it's pointless, Useless in fact, to know my name. It would mean nothing to you. "
"I still want to know."
He sighed, sounding tired and annoyed with life .
"My name has no equal in this language. It's originally"
He spoke in a slithering, evil, language. I got goosebumps.
"And since you cannot pronounce that, dear Angel, you might as well give up."
"I-I'm not a angel. "
He raised his eyebrow.
"Not A Angel. It was a shorter version of night Angel dumbass. That's why I called you it."
I froze.
"Now then, as I was saying before I was interrupted, my name has no equal in this language and you cannot pronounce it. HOWEVER... You may call me nightmare."
I swallowed, a lump in my throat, and nodded.
"If your in my head... Do you already know my name?"
"I. Know. Everything. I've already gone through your memories, made myself at home... Does that bother you, mortal?"
He then looked at me. One of his eyes was ruby red, the other a sapphire blue. They seemed to glow from the inside out. His pupils were pitch black, only adding to his appearance. He had a scar running over his right eye, light against the surrounding skin. He smiled, once again showing his white teeth, as he saw my discomfort and fear.
"I... No."
"Good. it would be a shame if we had.. 'Problems'."
I nodded, the only thing I could do, and looked away.
"I don't know what you think of me, but I will not be a monster. I will not let this power control me."
He put a finger under my chin and digged in, making me look up.
"Yes, you will."
