Secrets? What are those?
“And you said Dumbledore knows about this?” Orla asked for the fiftieth time on the way to breakfast. I nodded.“Yes, Orla,” I told her. “Just like every time you’ve asked since Saturday, Dumbledore knew what I was when he invited me to Hogwarts.” She nodded.
“Does anyone else know?” she asked. I hesitated, Remus’ secret not being mine to tell, but I nodded.
“The marauders,” I said. “Sunday morning, they were bored and wandered out to where I was, and it was the one time I couldn’t find a believable lie to tell.” She nodded as we walked into the Great Hall. As we walked towards Emily and Xen, James and Sirius walked up to us, Remus following behind.
“Morning, girls,” James said. He looked at me. “Livie, can we talk to you for a minute?” I looked at Orla, who nodded and walked over to our friends. I followed the boys out of the Hall, down a side corridor, and into an empty classroom.
“Guys, I really don’t see-” Remus started, but Sirius interrupted.
“Moony, shut up.”
“Livie, we have something to ask you,” James said, “and you’d better answer it completely honestly.” I nodded. “What’s your real name?” I froze. I glared at Remus, who looked at me with an apologetic look in his eye.
“You told them?” I exclaimed. He shook his head.
“No!” he replied. “I swear, I never told them anything!” James nodded.
“He’s telling the truth, Lawson,” he said. “He never told us anything, which is kind of insulting.” Remus looked at the ground.
“It wasn’t my secret to tell.” Sirius stepped forward.
“But you see,” he said, “we were curious about your name: Livie Lawson.” James nodded.
“Livie could easily be a nickname for a different name: Olivia,” he said. “And the name Lawson could easily be another form of the name Larson. Then, Sunday morning, when we found out you were a werewolf, it all came together.” He slowly walked around the room. “Olivia Larson went missing the night her family was killed by Fenrir Greyback, and she would be around the age of sixteen now. It wasn’t hard if you think about it.” I glared at him. “Now I’ll ask you again: What’s your real name?” I stared intensely at the ground.
“Olivia Larson,” I said through gritted teeth. I looked up at him. “My name is Olivia Larson.” I glanced over at Remus before storming out of the room to the Great Hall.
Remus’ P.O.V.
I glared at James and Sirius as Livie walked out of the room. James looked back at me.
“What?” he asked. I shook my head.
“I can’t believe you just did that,” I said, trying to walk past him. He grabbed my shoulder.
“Did what?” he asked. I gritted my teeth.
“Everyone has secrets,” I snapped. “She had what, one secret that no one knew? And you guys just made her tell you the one thing she never wanted known?” I bit my tongue and pulled my arm out of his grip, walking quickly down the corridor.
