Starlight and Rune 3
Rune raced through the woods, hurdling past trees and bushes. Adrenaline surged through her veins, propelling her faster. Leaves swatted her face, but she did not care. She had to warn Starlight! She heard jaws snap near her tail. Fear sparked in her chest, That was close, and she bolted ahead even further. Soon she could see the clearing. “Starlight! Starlight! Run! Run! Fly!” Rune screeched.Starlight looked up to see Rune propelling for her, shrieking, “Starlight! Starlight! Run! Run! Fly!” Starlight got the hint: Danger! She bottled up all of the potion she could, panic rising inside of her. Her heart was a bird trying to burst out of its cage as she stuffed the crystal bottle into the sachal around her neck. Then the air got cold. Very cold. And she saw him. The Corruptor. Another dragon too. A drakaina. “Is that..the Princess?”
Rune replied, “Talk later! Fly! Fly! FLY!” Starlight unfurled her sapphire wings and took to the skies.
The Corruptor roared in anger, but did not follow. He grinned instead. He now knew the appearance of the dragonets he had been searching for. That was all he needed.
Starlight and Rune conversed. They could no longer depend on the safety of their university, the reassurance of a meal and a bed at night, now that the Corruptor knew what they looked like. They would have to survive on their own. Rune shared how she had discovered the horrific scene of where the princess had been corrupted.
“Well, one thing is now clear,” Starlight declared. Rune gave her a questioning look. “No body is safe.”
