Ms. Harris
(This is Ms. Harris)I crinkled a small piece of paper in my hand as i walked to my fourth period class. Tracy had given me her number. In fact, she was walking right beside me, because it turned out we had the same fourth period. Tracy opened the door to the science lab, an awful stench filled my nose. I started coughing and waving my hand in front of my nose. Tracy burst out laughing.
"Yah, it takes a while to get used to it." Walked in with me behind her, still coughing.
"And that is why magnets blah blah blah magnetic fields ANNIKA ARE YOU LISTENING?!" A girl in the front row sat up and adjusted her glasses.
"Uh... yes ma'am." She fumbled. Lucky her, I had no idea what's going on. Tracy and I had been passing notes for the past thirty minutes, the luckily Ms. Harris didn't call on either of us. I guess she decided to cut me some slack, and Tracy already knew this because her brother was in Ms. Harris's class last year. A bit of paper landed on my desk. I unfolded it.
Meet me after school
by the fountain. I want
to show you something.
I looked over at Tracy and nodded. She dipped her head in acknowledgement and turned towards the board, hands folded neatly across her desk. I shook my head and smiled, and looked up at the clock. 3 more minutes of class to go.
"MS. FELDMAN!" I jumped at looked at Ms. Harris.
"Can you please repeat my last two words please?" I was pretty sure "Ms. Feldman" wasn't the right answer, and i doubted that "Ms." was even a full word. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Tracy mouthing some words.
"I... uh... electromagnetic... polar bears?" Tracy face palmed and the entire class burst out laughing. Ms. Harris didn't even smile.
"First of all Heather, that is THREE words. And second of all that is incorrect." She had a thick British accent, so "Heather" sounded kinda funny. I suppressed a giggle.
"What is so funny? Heather, for such a young, lovely girl, you are quite a disgrace. You have lunch detention tomorrow!" She turned around and slowly walked back to her desk. I looked down. A note flew onto my lap. I unfolded it.
Don't worry, she's
like that to everyone.
I threw the note back to Tracy.
Yah, but that doesn't
change the fact that I
have detention
tomorrow :(
