Surprise!
The hall on the way to 5th period was suspiciously quiet, and I jumped as Candy poked my back. I turned around the see her wearing that same expression Tracy had, that disappointed "Why-did-you-ditch-me?" face. I shook my head and pushed open the door."Heather!" Candy exclaimed. "What happened?!" she asked. I hesitated. Telling that story wasn't exactly a pleasant experience, but I decided she had full rights to know. I retold the story (TT^TT) and again, that gaping "I-dont-believe-this" expression. I suddenly wondered if Tracy and Candy were stepsisters or something. Hardly likely, but possible. Candy's shock suddenly faded.
"Hey, it's okay Heather. Besides, I have something that could cheer you up! Can you come to my house after school?" I was shocked and delighted at such a suggestion, after all, we had just met.
"I'd love to! I'll check with my mom first though, but I'm sure it'll be fine." Candy nodded and sat down at her desk. I followed her example.
"America... war... Settlers... flag... blahblahblah blahblahblah blahblahblah." As you've probably figured out, i'm not exactly an A student, more of a B, and the horrible occasional C. My parents don't care much what grades I get, but they do care about my diploma. Yeah yeah, skips a step in logic, but at least I'm off the hook for now. Coraline is probably not so lucky. Her average is a C in all the classes, except for English, were she has a B. She reads a lot though (emphasis on a lot) so im not very surprised. But the real surprise is the fact that she has an A in science. I dont know how she does it, its quite amazing. Once I asked her if she would want me to help her a bit. Not that I was the best candidate for the job, more like the only candidate. She opened her mouth and was about to say something, but then saw something behind me and waved her hand with an awkward frown. I turned around to see the bushes shuddering and Libby's blond ponytail tangled in the bushes, and someones hands (probably Miku's) were trying to get it off. There was a small crack and a string of cusses that abruptly stopped. Fact of the day: Libby and Miku are not very good spies.
After the usual hustle-bustle of the building, it felt good to get out. I unzipped my bag and pulled out my phone.
"Hey Mom! My friend invited me over... Do we have any plans for this afternoon? ... Oh okay, awesome. So, is that okay? ... Yeah, I'll check up with you once I get there. ... Mmhm. Okay. Home by 9. Got it. Thanks! Love you Mom. ... Yup. Bye." I hung up and looked around for Candy. She hadn't specified where should would be, I realized. Oh, never mind. Her bright blue dress and screaming pink backpack where pretty hard to miss. She waved to me and bounced (literally, bounced) over to me.
"So, that's a yes?" I nodded.
"Great! C'mon, I usually ride the bus home." She saw my expression and laughed. "No, Libby doesn't go back on it. A limo usually picks her up..." From her thoughtful expression I guessed she wasn't kidding.
The bus was crowded, but we found some seats. It took a while, but finally we got to a lovely little house pained a light green, with a oak door and vines creeping along the walls. Candy's keys jangled as she unlocked the door, her little Pinkie Pie keychain swinging. She pushed open the door and... Surprise!
"Hi!" waved Coraline and Tracy.
