Chapter 7, An Amazing Place
Dawn and Dusk looked over the great city. It was so huge they would never see it's full size."Dusk it's an awesome view," said Dawn distantly.
"It still doesn't seem like we're meant to be in a place like this," replied Dusk.
"We should find others," Dawn said assertively.
They looked around, but anywhere there were cats, the cats were shut into houses.
"Dawn we should look for alley cats," Dusk told her friend stubbornly.
"Fine," Dawn replied saying no more.
In the alleys there weren't many cats, and those there were seemed scared of the two she cats. Finally they fond a tiny kitten who was too weak to run.
Dawn sniffed the kitten, and knowing how the kitten must have felt picked it up carefully. When she set the kitten on a pillow in their new home it was asleep. Dawn looked at it's collar. The kitten's collar said Altra, but no more was there. Dawn nipped the collar off carefully.
The kitten woke later on. It looked around, but still didn't try to stand.
At that moment Dusk returned with five fish. She gave two fish to Dawn and one to the kitten, Altra. She kept the last two fish for herself.
The two she cats ate, but Altra only looked at the fish. Dawn had to encourage the nervous kitten to eat. Eventually Altra ate the fish silently.
"So then kitten, what were you doing alone?" asked Dusk.
"I was running from the animal catchers," said Altra.
"Animal catchers, what's that?" Dusk said confused.
"People who catch cats, dogs, and other things," replied Altra. "I've heard bad stuff happens to them, and you never see them again."
"Emmm, like what?"
"I've heard that they kill some of the ones they catch." "And some they lock away forever." "I've even heard of going mad, and being tortured there."
Dusk shuddered, but Dawn seemed too absent to catch the conversation.
Dawn was actually seeing a vision again. She saw herself standing on the roof of her old home, no her new home. It was the new home all along. She saw herself searching. Her vision self spotted the young cat from the last vision. She realized it had been Altra she saw. When the vision faded she still said nothing of it.
She thought maybe she could stop that next disaster. She became determined to change fate. She only hoped she could take the responsibility.
She ate the last of her fish, and then lied down to sleep. Her dreams were undisturbed.
