Chapter 6, After Destruction
'Better bury him before Dusk comes back,' Dawn thought.
The grave was among the roots of the fallen tree. The tree had started to rot away. The place would always seem haunted.
Dawn went back inside and started planning. She knew another town was near-by, and that it was much larger. She thought they could there.
Dusk returned soon after. She dropped her two rats. When Dawn did not say anything, Disk looked worried.
"Hey Dawn," said Dusk, "are you feeling okay?"
"Yes I'm fine." "Only planning," Dawn replied slowly.
"what are you planning?," asked Dusk.
"I think we should go to the next town over." "There's nothing left for us here."
"So it happened?"
Dawn nodded silently, her face grim.
"If you think it's best, I won't argue with you," Dusk said.
"I really think it's for the best, and I want to still be near that field."
"Dusk nodded and started getting ready. When Dusk was ready they ate, then left.
From the park at the edge of town, it was hard to judge the town's real size. It seemed very big, except for some abandoned houses a couple streets down.
"Dawn let's go the empty houses," Dusk said, "it would be easy shelter."
"I agree with that," Dawn replied simply.
The house they came to was like Dawn's last one, except the kitchen and living room didn't have a wall between. They decided it would be a good place to stay. So then they decided to explore. They climbed the tallest building in the area. And they were amazed by the sight.
