Chapter 2, Bad Dreams
Dawn woke up, or so she thought for a moment. She realized she was having another dream. She could even see herself in the dream. Her dream self was slightly older, taller, and more graceful. She seemed to be talking with Fuzz in the dream. Then the ground trembled, and houses were crumbling. Dream Dawn and Fuzz tried to run. Then a branch from a falling tree fell on Fuzz's hind legs.
Suddenly that dream faded into another one.
Now the house where Dawn lived was abandoned. She stood on the roof.
Dawn knew she was searching for something. Then she saw a young cat being taken by humans. She leaped down to stop the humans. She scratched the humans, but they paid her little mind. Dawn didn't know why she wold attack a human, but her dream self did.
The other cat suddenly fainted from weakness. She would have kept attacking but the dream faded again.
Now she was in the alley behind the houses. Dawn seemed to be dizzy and weak.
Her dream self pounced on a rat, and it died with a squeal. Another rat appeared then two more. After a moment she was outnumbered by the rats. Dawn fought her best, but she appeared to be losing. Dawn's dream self lost her eyes and her scarred leg looked worse.
Where did the scarred leg come from. She had not noticed that before, but it must have already been there. Then Dawn recalled it from the last dream as well. that only confused her more.
Suddenly it was all gone. There was nothing bellow or above her. Dawn looked around desperately, but there was still nothingness.
Three demon-like cats stood before her. Two toms and a she-cat. There teeth were as sharp as thorns, and their claws were like knives. The cats had glowing red eyes.
Her dream self stared them in the face, somehow unafraid. A glowing crystal hanging on a string around her neck shone brightly.
The dark creatures turned away from the glowing light. Suddenly there was a stronger light, and it did not come from the crystal. The demon-like cats seemed to melt into shadows. They screamed horribly as they faded.
Then Dawn actually awoke. Her heart raced and her pretty fur was ruffled up.
It was early in the morning, and bright sunlight poured through the window. The humans were still asleep, as there was silence.
Dawn walked into the kitchen feeling hungry. She ate some of the cat food, and drank some water to wash the taste away. Cat food didn't taste very good she decided.
A moment later she heard footsteps and knew someone was awake. Dawn turned to see who it was. It turned out to be the human child's mother. The lady petted Dawn, and then started making some sort of food.
Dawn Decided to see if the girl was awake yet. When she got upstairs the door to the child's room was open. Dawn walked in the room and saw the girl sitting on the bed. Dawn rubbed against the child's feet. The child picked Dawn up and petted her.
Suddenly there was the sound of a commotion downstairs.
