Honeyflight (Chapter 18)
Cinderleaf padded out of the Medicine Den and stretched. It had been a while since she had become the official Thunderclan Medicine Cat and she still hadn't even thought about getting an apprentice, but she was ok with being a lone medicine cat for awhile. She padded over to Owlfang, who was crouched next to the fresh-Kill Pile eating a small rabbit, and settled down next to him."Hi Owlfang." Cinderleaf greeted the young warrior as her jaws parted in a yawn. He smiled at her and offered some of his rabbit. She smiled back and began snarfing it down in big, greedy bites.. Owlang chuckled and shook his head at Cinderleaf's kittish behavior. She would always always ate like that when she was tired.
"So how are you this morning?" Owlfang asked her, cleaning his paws delicately. "Its going good, but I am still a bit tired." Cinderleaf yawned for the millionth time. Owlfang chuckled slightly and took a bite out of the rabbit. If anyone didn't know them and they saw them chatting, it would automatically seem that the two were mates because of their warm behavior towards each other. Owlfang secretly wished that they were mates, deep in his heart.
A pang of longing stabbed his heart like thorns. He wanted her to be his, but the warrior code prohibited him. Medicine Cats weren't allowed to have kits or mates. Everyone thought it was a useless rule. Only the four original leaders of the clans knew why it was added into the code. The original leaders had died many moons before, barring his way to knowledge.
After they finished the rabbit, Cinderleaf got up and stretched again. Owlfang copied her perfect stretch before he turned to pad over to the high-ledge, a place where the leader or the deputy made announcements or patrol announcements. Cinderleaf stopped him by place her tail on his shoulder.
"C-could you help me with finding s-some herbs?" Cinderleaf asked him, stuttering nervously. She only stuttered when she needed help with something. Owlfang smiled. "Of course! I just have to tell the others where I'm going then I'll be right back!" He mewed before rushing away to a group of cats. Cinderleaf turned away and padded over to the entrance of the camp and sat down as she waited for Owlfang to return .
A few minutes later, Owlfang came back with someone else. Unfortunately, it was Honeyflight. She was Cinderleaf's enemy when they were kits because she's had always had a fondness of Owlfang, but when she realized that Owlfang liked loved Cinderleaf she went crazy and started torturing Cinderleaf with insults. Cinderleaf was still puzzled why nobody believed her when she told someone about Honeyflight's behavior, but she was always deemed as 'innocent'. It actually sickened Cinderleaf, which was pretty rare. Almost nothing sickened her because she was a Medicine Cat, and Medicine cats go through a lot of terrible stuff in their years. Apparently the small group would only consist of Cinderleaf, Owlfang, and Honeyflight.
"We're ready! Let's go!" Owlfang leapt into the thick undergrowth of the forest with a mew if delight. Honeyflight shoved Cinderleaf aside as she caught up to the tom. Cinderleaf limped as fast as she could but the two other cat's were faster. Owlfang looked back at her and slowed his pace to a trot as he waited for Cinderleaf to catch up.
Honeyflight stopped and noticed that Owlfang wasn't running alongside her anymore and she looked back to see that Owlfang was pressing his fur into Cinderleaf's side to support her. Honeyflight let out a huff of anger and disgust as she glared at Cinderleaf for stealing Owlfang away from her again. Honeyflight knew about Cinderleaf's accident, but she couldn't care less about it. 'I guess It would have been nice If the monster had killed her,' She thought angrily.
"Owlfang! Please come walk with me not her! I feel so lonely without someone's fur brushing against mine!" Honeyflight whined like a kit and flashed an innocent smile at the slightly irritated tom. He sighed and glanced at Cinderleaf, silently asking if he should or not. To his surprise, Cinderleaf shrugged.
"Go ahead. I don't mind." Cinderleaf whispered, her quirky smile making his breath catch in his throat. He nodded and smiled dispassionately at her before running towards Honeyflight. Cinderleaf sighed quietly and looked around for watermint and catmint.

They all arrived back to camp with assorted herbs clutched in their teeth. Well, except for Honeyflight because she had gone hunting instead. She had literally refused to look for herbs with Cinderleaf. Honeyflight padded over to the Fresh-Kill pile and dropped her prey on the very top like a spoiled kittypet. Owlfang followed Cinderleaf into the Medicine Den to put away the herbs that they had gathered. For the few hours left in the day, Owlfang and Cinderleaf stayed in the Medicine Den sorting through seemingly endless piles of herbs. Since Owlfang barely had time alone with Cinderleaf, he treasured the moment.
'I wish this would last forever. I barely hang out with Cinderleaf anymore and I'm the only one, other than Cinderleaf, to know about Honeyflight's actual personality. No one would believe us if we told them about it. I don't like Honeyflight, but I do love Cinderleaf,' Owlfang thought, smiling as they chattered on like a flock of squabbling birds.
