Once There Was A War

Again

The town. It was destroyed too. I guess that's where the planes went in those five excruciating minutes. I walked around. This was strange. The town looked just like ours. I wasn't the only one to think so. Everyone in our group thought so. I walked toward the place my house would be in our town. The ruins looked just like mine. I reenacted what I did. I went down in the bomb shelter, came out. Looked around. And there it was. The little black face. Looking exactly the same. The I saw another girl behind me, gone out of he shelter, doing exactly what I did. She saw the face. She ran over to it. Stared at it. Just like I did. She whispered to it. Just like I did. She then left, looking for survivors, just like I did. She found 38 of them. But this time, 17 female, 21 male. What was going on. I went to go talk to them but when I started talking, they could not hear me. I touched them but they could not hear me. Then they started walking, south. Like we did. I realized I was not the only one in our group watching this. What was going on? We all decided that the same exact thing was happening to them that happened to us. We followed them. They walked a mile with them, then camped out. They didn't get much sleep, and the next day, they slept 4 hours before they got up and started walking again. They finally reached the town, and they were shocked. It was the same thing. Except once they reached the village, they saw us. Hey we're wondering who we were. So we decided to introduce ourselves.
"Hello" I said
"Who are you" their leader, I assumed, said.
"Well I don't know how to explain this, but we have been following you since you guys survived the bombing. I don't know what's going on but the thing that happened to you guys, well, it happened to us in the exact same way. The face, the bombing, 38 survivors, walking south, not enough rest, camping out, the four hours of sleep. We went through it too. And I'm guessing it's going to happen to these people too, because their village looks just like ours and yours when it was destroyed."
Way to go I thought. That was totally suttle! They all stood their shocked.
