Hike
I stood up from the girl. I walked around, looking for any survivors. I found very few, about 38 total. 17 men, 21 female. Our town was already small enough. Before the attack we had a residency of 169 people. Now there's only 38 of us left. 131 people. Dead. 2 of which were my parents. We all decided to walk to the nearest town, which was 2 miles south of here, considering that help would not be arriving anytime soon. So we started walking. It took us a while, considering that some of us were weaker that others. Some were old and frail women and men. Some were missing arms, ears, and other limbs, yet no one lost any legs thankfully. Some were sick, some were just fine. I was lucky to be in such good condition. One boy, who was about 8, was missing an eye, arm and ear. I felt so bad but I did my best to help. We walked about 1 mile, but then the sun set. We decided to camp out. We had not brought any blankets with us, even though we had some at the shelters, so we were very cold. We tried to conserve body heat, by packing ourselves together, but we failed. It was better than freezing though.
-----------------------------
It was an excruciating night, the worst of my life. We all got about 1 hour of sleep all together. But when it was morning, and warm, we all decided to sleep. When two people had woken up, it would be their job to wake up the rest of us so we could head to the town.
We slept for about 4 hours, which wasn't much but just enough to get us going for the rest of the day. We started walking. We walked for about 30 minutes and then we finally reached the town.
