Arguements
I had agreed to the raid, but was still unsure. OK, unsure was an understatement. So the next night, at the Round Table I stood up.
"Look guys, I know you want to stand up to The Team, but what if we get Banished. We can't just go out there and die!"
Lucas shot up. "Better die trying than live in fear!"
"But this is DEATH we're talking about!"
Zoey stood up, along with a lot of the others. "Lucas is right..."
I had it then. "Why? Why do you always side with Lucas?!"
Lucas's eyes flashed. "Because I'm right!"
"No you're not! My parents died because they rebelled too far, and I'm not going to let you do the same!" I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs, but I couldn't.
Zoey sighed. "Look, we have to do it."
"No we don't! It's too dangerous! And until further notice, we AREN'T!"
Lucas scoffed. "Who died and made you leader?"
"Nobody! And that's how I'm going to keep it."
I stalked into the night, with a single silvery tear streaking down my cheek. Was it so wrong to try to protect the only family I had left?
