Chapter 5
Nidju stared down at Rimu, tears forming a puddle at her paws. She never even got a chance to know him, but Horosho did. And he was Nidju's friend. She cried for those two reasons, and that the Pride had lost a lion that could have made a change. Nidju turned around and helped Navui pull the zebra away from the sandy area, she clenched its mane in her jaws and tugged the heavy carcass away, straining with effort. She could see Navui struggling to. They dropped it inside the tall grass and Navui stayed to protect it, Nidju ran to the others were Belaia was comforting Horosho, Teyne was staring in shock at the situation, unable to comfort Horosho or Belaia or start a conversation. Nidju went over and started digging a grave, Teyne soon snapped out of it, and joined her. Belaia and Horosho did a little later. Soon it was large enough to hold a lion cub, and they lowered Rimu down, Horosho did the honours of pushing the dirt into the grave.Nidju followed the others to the zebra, she bent down and bit into the black and white skin, it was tough and stringy, but it tasted good on an empty stomach. Nidju layed down near the zebra and soon was asleep for a nap, rushes of the river ringing in her ears...
