Two - Nightmares
"I never let people in, and I have you to remind me why"Chapter Two - Nightmares
My heart quickened as I stared into his dark eyes. There was a look on his face that terrified me. He looked angry. Really angry. I don't think I've ever seen Asher mad, not even once in the eight years I'd known him. I winced as his lips moved harshly, meaning he'd probably yelled at me. A frown crossed my face as I tried to read his lips. He took a step towards me, signing one simple word: "Run." And, at that, I turned around and ran from my childhood friend.

I sat bolt upright in bed, almost banging heads with my worried brother. I looked at his scared face, confused as to why he was in my room in the middle of the night. He relaxed slightly and I raised an eyebrow in question.
"You were screaming," I frowned slightly as he continued to stare into my tired eyes. "You okay, sis?"
"Yeah," I forced a smile, just trying to get him to leave.
"You sure?"
"Yeah, I'm completely fine," my brother finally ruffled my hair and left the room.
I let out a silent sigh as I leaned back in bed, not wanting to sleep again. The nightmares were becoming more frequent and I didn't like it. I hated imagining Asher as a dangerous person.

I looked up at the large school building, putting all of my weight on my crutches. Sighing, I prepared myself for another day of silence. I had begun to get used to the silence, but it still infuriated me. I especially hated watching everyone else laugh and talk to each other while I had to just sit there in complete silence. Finally gaining my composure, I ambled my way through the large doors.
As I took my usual seat in the back of the room, the teacher placed the lesson on my desk like usual. I pulled my pencil out, prepping myself for the pointless English lesson for the day. I frowned, though, when I could almost feel someone set their stuff on the desk next to mine. No one ever sat next to me.
I looked over, seeing the guy from the lunch table smiling at me. He held up a notebook that had the neatly written words, "I came prepared this time."
I sighed as he held the notebook and a pink sharpie out to me. When I finally accepted the notebook, I simply wrote, "Why pink?"
He took the notebook back, confused for a moment, and then finally realized as he looked down at the pink sharpie he was holding. "I figured girls liked pink."
I was about to reply again when I remembered the shattered glass covering Asher's body, when I remembered looking down, seeing my own body covered in blood and glass. I simply looked down at the lesson before me, beginning to read.
