Just An Urban Legend

Electra inhaled the yummalicious aroma of burgers on he grill as the girls reached the grassy expanse beside the lake. The green dock shone in the sun. Vector, Espio and Charmy were manning the oversized grill. All three gave Electra a friendly wave as she grabbed a paper plate and joined the campers waiting for food. Yamilette, Sapphire, Maria, Lilli, Trinty, Jackie and Victoria. There was no sign of Wave or Amy. Then....there was Scrouge. It felt like forever since Electra had seen him, sure they had texted but to see him...in person. She gulped.
"Electra!" He yelled as he looked up and spotted her.
"Oh, there he is" Yamilette murmured as if she too were crushing on Scrouge. Electra felt a prick of jealousy, until she saw Sonic, Red and Topaz walking towards them. She noted that Red and Topaz were holding hands. Cute!
"Hey" Scrouge said reaching Electra's aside.
"Hi" she said. "Fancy seeing you here!" He cracked up.
"Hey guys" Sonic said waving to the girls as Red highfived Electra, then Yamilette and went along the row of campers.
"Guess what?" He said "We got lost on the way to camp!"
"Oh dear" Yamilette faulted. "Is everything okay?"
"Well duh" Red teased. "We're here, aren't we?"
"Though we did have to stop a couple times" Sonic grumbles. "We got out the car to see where we were and found the Green Lake Camp sign." He shook his head. "Which is not very helpful when it's lying in a ditch."
"A ditch?" Sapphire asked. "Which way did you come?"
"Same way as the bus, though, I kind of made everyone stop. Car sick" Topaz laughed.
"She did not throw up, I'm happy to report!" Sonic said nudging Topaz.
"THE sign? The one outside of camp?" Sapphire persisted.
"Yeah, it was also heavily spray painted" Sonic, Topaz and Red nodded while Maria, Victoria and Sapphire shared confused glances.
"What's wrong?" Sonic asked.
"We passed that sign on the way here and it was fine" Sapphire said.
"Maybe it was a different sign?" Red ventured. "But our sign was broken, in a ditch and spray painted in red with the words 'GO BACK'"
"Red? As in blood?" Sapphire began to become anxious.
"Eh, more mahogany" Topaz informed. Sonic gazed over at the girls.
"Guys, your all freaking out, it was probably just a prank. No big deal!"
"No, it is a big deal! It's Cropsy! I know it!"
"What a Cropsy?" Red asked.
"A crazed maniac that lives in the woods!" Sonic started to snigger.
"No way"
"It's true!" Sapphire argued. "Every six years he-" She frowned and Sonic started to smirk even wider.
"He what?" Red asked.
"I'll tell you later" Sapphire said pretending to give Sonic the stink eye. "When certain people aren't around." Sonic pointed to himself.
"Me?"
"Yes you! Stop teasing, or you'll be on his list!" Sonic laughed and stumbled backwards.
"It's too late...for me...run Yami...run Red..." He suddenly fell to the ground as the group laughed.
"Stop that!" Sapphire giggled. "Or you really will be on his list!" Lilli suddenly snapped her fingers.
"That's what Blaze was doing! She was writing down Cropsy's victims! I'm pretty sure I heard her muttering Sonic while writing.." Red laughed.
"Right. He must keep track on those who make fun of him"
"Then I'm dead" Sonic pouted.
"Hey, if Sonic does during cook out, can I have his burger?" Scrouge asks laughing. Sonic pushes him rolling his eyes.
"What if Cropsy isn't the real threat? Have you ever heard of the man eating lions of Green Lake Camp?" He lowered his voice. "A long time ago, there was a circus train that through this very part of the countryside. The train crashed. The lions got free and ran into the woods. They ate up all the rabbits, squirrels and then they started to eat some campers!"
"Really?" Trinty asked shaken.
"Really!" Sonic said. "ROAR!" Trinty squealed and laughed along with the girls.
"He's messing around" Red states. "Stop scaring my bunk mates, Sonic" Sonic just chuckled and nodded.
"Fine, fine! Just an Urban legend.."
