"First Jumper - Jackie!"
Jackie______
These last few minutes of my life has been exhilarating! We climbed up onto a railing, then jumped onto a moving train, then off that train onto a roof! Incredible! And I've already met two amazing friends: Sapphire and Leat.
"Everybody listen up!" someone shouts. We all crowd around the ledge, where a black hedgehog with red stripes stands. "My name is Shadow, and I am one of the Dauntless leaders. So far, you've done well to make it this far. But to make it into Dauntless Headquarters, you need to jump off this ledge into the hole down there." He then points to down below.
It must be a long way down.
Someone then asks "Is there water at the bottom or something?"
"Well, you'll find out when you jump," Shadow replies. "But someone has to jump first. So, who's going to be the brave soul to jump first?"
For a few moments everyone stands in complete silence. We all wait for someone to speak up to say they'll jump first. But no one does.
Suddenly, I feel that part of my body is shrieking "You jump first! You're brave. Show it to them!"
I can't hold it in.
"Me," I say. Everyone turns to face me in utter shock.
I'm not surprised at the look on their faces. No one expects someone from Abnegation to volunteer to jump first.
I walk over to the ledge and look below. The hole is quite big. I'm sure I can take it though.
I climb up onto the ledge. The wind is strong. Inhale, exhale. I can do this.
And I jump.
It's a long way down, and I fall through the hole, and land into a net. I bounce a few times but then I'm completely still.
That. Was. Awesome!
Someone then grabs a hold of the net and reaches his hand out to me. "You get pushed?" he asks.
"No," I say. "I volunteered to jump first."
"What's your name?"
I look at him. He is a dark blue hedgehog with green eyes. He seems kind. "Jackie."
He then looks up to the hole and shouts "First jumper: Jackie!" He then looks at me. "Welcome to Dauntless."
I smile. We then move out of the way so the others can jump. A Candor initiate is the second to jump. It's kind of funny watching him bounce about on the net like I did.
