Touring the Compound
Sapphire______
Now that everyone brave enough to jump through the hole has done exactly that, we're all gathered. Two of the five Dauntless leaders stand opposite us, and the blue hedgehog is the first to speak. "Dauntless-born initiates are with Rouge, transfers stick with me."
The initiates who were originally Dauntless and has chosen to stay Dauntless are led by a bat who I presume is Rouge. So it only leaves us transfers now. "Most of my time is spent in the control room, but I'm gonna be your instructor over these next few weeks. Call me Three."
"Three like the number?" I ask.
"Yep, exactly," he says.
Some of the other transfers smirk as I say "What happened? One and Two were taken?"
And some of the transfers even giggle. Jackie doesn't though. Maybe she was raised to never laugh at jokes, in case others found it insulting if you laughed.
Three just stares at me. "What's your name?"
Oh God, I've done it now.
"Sapphire," I say.
He walks closer until he's right in my face. "Well, Sapphire... If I wanted to put up with you Candor-smart mouths I would've joined Candor two years ago, now wouldn't have I?" He then backs away from me and faces everyone. "The first you'll learn is that if you want to survive here, keep your mouth shut. Got it?" We all nod.
"God, he's harsh," I whisper to Jackie.
"Yeah," she says, nervously. "But still... he's not that bad."
"Did you see the look he gave me?" I remind her. "How did that not freak you the hell out?"
"I don't know," she replies. "It just didn't."
We both look around as Three leads us around the compound.
I look ahead and lightly nudge Jackie. "Check that out," I say.
"Whoa," is all she can say at first. "So..."
"So what? Cool?"
"It's so... lively," she finally says.
I guess she's not used to excitement and chaos, being from Abnegation. From what I heard, Abnegation teaches how to keep peace, like Amity, but in a different way: by forgetting about yourself, and devoting your life to helping others.
So why are the Erudite accusing them of hoarding goods? It doesn't make sense.

Alexis
______
"This is the Pit," Three says. "The Dauntless call it the 'centre of life', since it's always packed with chaos."
I nudge Leat gently. "God this place is amazing!"
"I told you we made the right decision about transferring here," Leat replies.
"Yeah, this is just, so cool."
There is no way that Leat and I could ever have wanted to stay with Amity. We're just not that type. We don't want to grow into banjo-strumming softies who scream at every single bad thing. No, we wanna take a bad thing, crush it, and laugh in its face!
As we walk ahead, I hear water crashing against rock after rock.
I see a Candor transfer with the only Abnegation transfer, and they seem to like it here, so Leat and I join their conversation.
"Vicious, eh?" the Candor girl says.
"Yeah... it is," the Abnegation girl replies.
They then look up at us, and seem to recognise Leat. "Hey Leat," the Candor girl says.
"Hi Sapphire, hi Jackie," Leat says. "This is Alexis. She transferred with me."
The Abnegation girl approaches, and I reach out my hand. "Hi."
She looks at my hand in confusion. Oh, that's right. The Abnegation greet by bowing heads. But still, she shakes my hand. "Jackie."
We then look back down at the water roaring against the rock.
"This is the Chasm," Three says. "You might wanna be careful around this area. Anyone who tries to jump over this ledge, I guarantee your life will be over. Literally."
"Has anyone ever jumped down into the water?" Leat asks.
"At least one initiate every year. Happened before, and it'll happen again."
So someone every year wants to kill themselves?
Must be because they know they're gonna fail.
Stupid much. I'd rather be factionless than dead!

There's still more to come. And it's not just told from Jackie's view, oh no!
