Sentimental
For days we hadn't spoken since the woods, but we both knew why. It was too risky. I had broken my oath, and if Artemis knew, we would both be punished. Heck, all of the gods probably knew. But I couldn't help this feeling. I was giddy with love."You didn't," I heard Evie's suspicious voice behind me. We were in the cabin. Alone.
I shrugged. I didn't care what she thought.
She did something really unexpected. She hugged me. She never did that. She always wanted to be the tough girl, who was never sentimental. She hated people like that.
She whispered in my ear, "You're my best friend, and I've loved every minute of these past 150 years with you, and I'm crushed that it can't be 150 more."
I knew what she meant. I was going to be killed because I broke my oath. Lady Artemis would be furious, and I would be dead.
