Chapter 4 : The day before leaving

"Eggman, stay back!" Yelled Sonic "...Eggman?"
Eggman answered from behind a scrapped robot "I'm right behind you!"
"WERE YOU HIDING ALREADY?!"
The robot was huge, with rocket launchers as hand and enormous blades on the arms.
"Well? You don't want to attack us? If that's so... FATE CAPRICCIO!" Chrono launched his attack with a grin on his face.
The cyan ray hit the robot,but nothing happened.
"WHAT?! That attack was supposed to erase that piece of junk from the time!"
"Maybe your combat skills got worse in these years..."
"That's not funny Redik!"Said Chrono while dodging a missile."Don't joke about this, you got it?"
"I wasn't joking..."
Sonic used the spin attack against the robot, causing only little scratches.
Shadow tried to use the chaos control, but he was worn-out for the recent battles.
No missile hit his target...except of Eggman, who was now running with his butt burning.
"Ok, now I'm tired of you."Sonic begun to run around the robot, making him go confused.
Then Sonic whistled,the robot turned to him and Redik kicked the robot's head, throwing it on the ground.
"Good job guys..." Other robots emerged from the portal, flying in all directions, but one was flying in direction of
"My house!Jackie!" Yelled Sonic running towards the robot, trying to intercept it.
"Sonic, wait!"
"Watch out!" Redik ran , and gave a shove to Sonic, to move him away from where he stood.
And the robot landed on Redik.He wasn't moving.
"Redik!"Shouted Sonic.
"Sonic...go...we can handle this.Just...go!"Answered Redik from under the robot.
Sonic ran,but when he arrived at his home...nothing was left.The house was in pieces...but there weren't signs of Jackie, or Tails.The robots took them? They were dead now? No, Sonic couldn't think this. They were alive, he knew that.If he had been Tails, where would he be now?
Then a familiar voice called him "Sonic? Sonic!" The voice was going out from...the house?
From a manhole came out Jackie with the babies and Tails.
"Jackie! Tails!" Sonic ran to Jackie, and hugged her, being careful of the childrens.
"You're safe...I...was afraid that..."
Jackie shushed him.
"We're fine,don't worry.After sending that robot on the seabed, we hid in the basement. And you know what? The children were very brave. It's not true?"
Tris and Uriah smiled at their dad.
"Well done my little hedgehogs."Said Sonic smiling and holding Tris, who started to play with Sonic's hair.
"Where are the others?" asked Tails.
"Just here..." answered Shadow holding Redik, while Chrono was holding Eggman.
"And we learned something: my powers don't work on those *CENSORED* robots!"
"Calm down Chrono, at least we're all alive, no?And I have-"
"Shut up Eggdumb.You weren't useful at the fight."
"What?!How dare you to talk like this to your creator!You little-"
"I talk to you in any way I want!"

Eggman and Chrono continued to argue, even when they went away.
Then Tails returned to his house, starting working already on the project of Sonic and Jackie's new house, and Shadow...just disappeared, no one knows where he went.
Sonic,Jackie and the childs, went to Redik's house.
"Redik, if I can ask, where will you sleep if you leave your bedroom to us?"asked Sonic.
"Don't worry, I'll sleep on the tree out there."
"Can't you sleep on the sofa?"
"It is uncomfortable to sleep on, I prefer the tree."
"Ok..."
"Hey Sonic,can I speak with you, out of here?"
Sonic and Redik went out of the house.
"So, what do you want to tell me?"
"What will we do tomorrow?I mean, if that things Shadow told are true, this can be very dangerous. Without thinking about the robots that are now in our world, and you saw that they are dangerous, we could probably die this time. One of them is enough for us, but the other Eggman has an army of those-"
"If you don't want to come, do not come."
"I didn't say this.It's just..."
"Look, we'll think tomorrow about this ok?"
"Ok...good night Sonic."

Redik's POV
I can't sleep...not knowing that Sonic and the others could die this time.I have to do something about it, but what...
"They won't die, I promise you."
"Shadow..."
"I had seen them die once, I won't let that happen another time."
"..."
"Why are you so afraid of losing them?"
"I...I don't know...I think of them as my family but...I don't know what I'm feeling..."
"You love them"
"Love? What is it?"
"You will know, don't worry."After this, he disappeared.
"...Love..."

Sonic's POV
Redik is right.This time someone could die for real.
No.I won't let that happen.All of us will return home.
*turning on Jackie*
...Jackie...I will return.That's a promise.

Sonic gave a kiss on the cheek to Jackie and then he felt asleep.
