Jack Skellington x Reader: What was Lost, Has been Found

Chapter 8

The new day started with Zero hopping onto your chest and scratching at your blanket to get it off of you. You giggled and pet his head, making him bark and lick your face.

"Hey boy! Glad to see you're not entirely lazy."

You scratch under his chin, and he lets out a little bark. Jack comes in soon after, smiling wide at the sight.

"Here's some clothes Sally lent you, and I made some breakfast so come down after you're done changing!" He sets the clothes by your old ones and picks up Zero, leaving your room and closing the door behind him.

Getting up from bed you head to the closet to see what Sally had lent you. There was a t-shirt that was sewn together with many different cloths varying in shades of (f/c), a old stained hoodie that looked well loved, and a pair of old ripped jeans. She seemed to have also left you a pair of worn flats that matched the shirt. (If you don't like this outfit, feel free to change it.)

Fully dressed and satisfied with the comfort of your outfit, you head out of your room and down the stairs, following the scent of delicious food. Turning a corner, you find Jack sitting at a dining table playing fetch with Zero with one of his rib bones. You laugh when he throws it and Zero trips over himself and flies through a wall.

"Is he gonna be okay?" You ask sitting down in your chair.

Jack turns to you and smiles, shaking his head as Zero comes barreling through the wall again, through the table and up the stairs. "I'm sure he's fine."

You laugh again, watching as he hands you your plate of eggs and bacon, it smelled super good!

Mouth watering, you quickly thank him and dig in, practically moaning at the taste.

"This is so good! You're an amazing cook Jack!"

Jack smiles wide and takes a bite of his own food, "Thanks (Y/N), you always said that in our old life too. You thought I should have opened my own restaurant ."

You look up at Jack and see he has a far away look on his face, like he was caught up in a memory.

You clear your throat a bit, "what... what was our old life like?"

Jack snaps out of it and looks down at his plate, looking conflicted. He was probably deciding what to tell you.

"Well..." Jack started, looking off towards a wall, "We lived together in a small two bedroom apartment. And we had a dog named Zero, you named him."

You gasp at this. Zero was your dog too? That was probably why he was so excited to see you. Just the thought of it made you tear up.

"We lived in (city), where we were both college students. It's... how we met actually. I was studying culinary, and you were studying (subject) to be a (job choice)."

He smiles wistfully at the memory, "We met in a math class, I can't remember which one exactly, but I remember you hated it and so did I, and we would sit next to each other and complain all period. Eventually we started meeting up outside of class, and we became really close. We almost were never seen apart, to the point where we both moved into my dorm since my roommate dropped out."

He starts to tear up, "I wish you remembered it (Y/N), we had so many good times together. I wish you didn't have to die, if you hadn't died, I wouldn't have spent years alone waiting for you-"

He starts to sob. Startled, you watch in anguish as he desperately wipes at his sockets to stop the flow of tears. You quickly made your way to his side of the table, bringing him into a tight hug.

"I'm here now, Jack. Don't cry anymore."

"B-but it's not the same. You can't r-remember! A-and now-"

"Don't worry Jack we'll get through this, you don't have to cry, we'll get through this together."

You pull away and stare into his sockets with a sad smile, "Now, why don't we finish breakfast and go get ready for the day, okay Jack?"
