Frostbite *OLD*

4th Wall

The robot pointed its gun at Sage but she dodged out of the way before it could shoot. Then she was being chase by about a dozen of Eggbots by the time she got to the end of the hallway. How am I supposed to find anyone in this maze? She thought as she ran through indistinguishable corridors. Then she got an idea. She stopped dead in her tracks as soon as she turned a corner so all the robots flew past her, all of them running into one another trying to stop. She stood there, waiting for them to notice what had happened. They circled around her, “WE. ARE. ORDERED. TO.BRING. YOU. WITH. US. FOR. FURTHER. INSTRUCTIONS.” One robot said as they escorted her to wherever Eggman was.
We were soon approaching a familiar door that led to the control room. The large doors slowly slid away from each other to reveal two people on the inside. Robotnik in his round chair facing the huge screen and J.J. over to the far right eating what looked like a sandwich, which he didn’t seemed to be enjoying.
“Well,” he twirled around in his chair to face his tiny army of Eggbots. “that was an interesting chase. Why give up so quickly?” Eggman asked.
“I came here to see you.” She simply stated.
She could tell that her friend was now paying attention to the situation before them. Maybe he recognizes my voice. She thought but she doubted that a little.
“Then, state your business.” Eggman demanded.
Well, Sage didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t just say that she was here to rescue her friend…or could she?
“I’m here to take your prisoner.” She replied. Eggman seemed to be taken aback a little by her response.
“What’s the reason? There must be a solid explanation of why you would want to take him?” he questioned.
“Hmmm, I’m here to get him off you hands since he doesn’t seem to be any use to you. Am I right?” Sage answered. Eggman was about to reply when he noticed the boy’s drastic expression change when the intruder came in. But he couldn’t figure out the reason why.
“What’s you name, if you don’t mind me asking.” The doctor asked thoughtfully.
“Sage Sparks.” She answered with her ‘character’s’ name.
“Well my screen here says that you are lying.” Eggman said as he motioned to his miniature screen in front of him. “Now, tell me your real name.”
“You know, I want to be honest with you.” She walked over to J.J. and grabbed his wrist and pulled him up out of his chair and brought him over to the middle of the room. “I’m here to get my friend and leave. Okay?”  she said and with that she ran out the door dragging J.J. behind her. “You filthy mutt get back here!” Eggman yelled after them. Sage was running towards a room she noticed on the way that mentioned something about warp rings. Her plan was to finally get home. She found the room quickly and the door open by sensing motion. As they opened the door and ran in they were overwhelmed by the number of warp rings in the room. Sage grabbed one of the rings and she thought of the place and time of where she wanted it to go and the ring expanded with a portal.
“Okay this should take us home.” She motioned for him to go first.
“Wait, where have you been and what happened to...” he implied to the way I looked.
“I really don’t know myself but we can talk about that later le-“
“But you can’t go back looking like that Hannah.” He interrupted. It just dawned on her that he was right; she couldn’t go back to Earth looking like this. They heard Eggman and his robots getting closer. Without much thinking Sage decided on a choice that she had to make.
“Sorry about this.” She said as she pushed him into the portal just as it was closing. Sage didn’t have much time to think she just ran back into the hallway and away from Eggman and his robots. But deep down she knew that she couldn’t find her way out by herself. Then seemingly from out of nowhere the floor disappeared from underneath her and she fell on to a roof of building. She hit the ground running but couldn’t keep her balance and tripped over her own feet rolling on the ground until she came to a stop. She slowly sat up rubbing her head from where her head had hit the concrete rooftop. She got up and walked over to the edge to get a good look of where she was but she didn’t have a clue. But it seemed to be a small town and the building that she was on looked to be busy on the inside. So she found the fire escape and climbed down to find someone standing in the alley. She cautiously walked around the person, since it was now dark out. When she walked in front of them, the street lamp gave away the person’s identity and she froze on the spot. It seemed a little unreal to see him even after she has seen all the rest but it’s still hard to believe.“You got a staring problem.” He asked. She was surprised by how his voice sounds. It was way different hearing in person.
“No, hmm do I know you from somewhere?”
“I would have remembered if we have.”  Said Shadow as he began walking down the street and she followed not knowing what else to do.
“So could you at least tell me where I am?” Sage asked as she caught up with Shadow.
“You’re in Crisis City.” He answered. Sage found that a little amusing seeing that the city was not in disaster compared to the other that she has seen. He continued walking without another word.
Sage stopped following him since she didn’t want to get on his bad side at the moment. So she walked around the dimly lit city, mostly thinking about all the events that have taken place since that Friday night on Earth. I have finally got J.J. out of this mess but now I seem to be in a bigger one. Why didn’t I think of it before? It was crazy of me to think that everything could just work out so easily. But why does Eggman want information from me? Does have to do with the fact that I’m a fan of the Sonic series? Does it have to do with what happened to Sonic? But how am I going to become human again so I can go home? How did this even happen in the first place? She stopped in front of a store front that was dark on the inside so she could see her reflection in the window.  She looked in the reflective surface and saw someone standing beside her. Sage turned around quickly and saw a girl echidna.
“I’m glad to see you’ve mad it this far.” Tikal said as she took a few steps closer to Sage. “It’s thanks to me that you survived that nasty fall.” Sage looked to the ground in thought then looked back to Tikal.
“So you’re saying that you’re the one that changed me into this?” Sage questioned. Tikal nodded, “Yes, it was the only thing I could do to your mangled body. So I gave you a new one.”
“What happened to my…old body?” Sage asked nervously.
“It was used to create your new one and, no there is no way to get it back; if you were wondering.” She explained with honesty.
“I’m thankful for you saving me and all, but why did you?” Sage asked.
“Because I sensed something in you that I couldn’t let die and you will find out what that is in time.” Tikal answered. Sage was about to answered back but when she looked up, Tikal was gone. Well at least one of my questions is now answered. Sage thought. I- Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a commotion down the street so; she jogged in the direction of the noise. When she got there she was surprised by what she saw. She saw the Babylon Rogues in the middle of the street and they seemed to be arguing over some kind of device in Jet’s hand…The Emerald Locater!!! Sage walked cautiously over to the feuding group of birds until Storm spotted her.
“Hey boss, some girl wants to speak her opinion on who should get the device.” He said. Jet and Wave quieted and turned their attention on Sage; which she hated when everyone’s attention was on her.
“That belongs to me.” She said shyly. “Oh yeah? Then how come it was in Emerald forest, just lying around?” Jet scoffed.
“Because I lost it there and I need it back.” Sage stated.
“Well the only way you’re gonna get is to win it from me.” Jet said confidently as Wave and Storm didn’t have a anything to say.
“How do you expect me to do that?” Sage asked even though she assumed what the answer already was.
“We’ll have an Extreme Gear race around this part of the city; the first one back to this spot wins the race.” He declared. “And you can use Wave’s Gear to race me with.” He added with Wave giving him an irritated stare. Wave rolled her eyes and handed Sage the hover board. Sage was a bit surprised by the board’s weight and walked over to the red light that Jet was standing in front of carrying the board awkwardly. She could hear them snickering behind her.
She just pushed them out of her mind, determined to win back what Tails had given her. Sage grabbed the board with one hand and prepared for the green light. A few seconds later the light flashed green and Jet and Sage took off. She threw the board out in front of her and leaped on the foot holds and almost immediately lost her balance and swerved across the street. Jet flew past laughing as he went by. Sage held her breath as she gained control of the gear and began to accelerate down the narrow road. The bright green stream coming from Jet’s hover board danced between the vehicles in the dark light but he made a sharp right turn at the end of the street. Sage was no where close to him in speed but she saw him pass by looking through the alleyways to her right. So she turned sharply down an alley running into the brick walls on each side. She came out on the street where she saw Jet pass and she could see him almost a block away. She regained her balance and sped towards to green hawk.
She was gaining speed when she ran into heavy traffic. Sage weaved and swerved through all the cars as they drove down the busy street. She passed one from behind and saw Jet make a right turn on to another street. So as she passed the car she turned sharp but as she did a car was turning onto the street she was on. She grabbed and lifted the nose of the board and scrapped the hood of the car as she went over. Sage unsteadily caught up with Jet as they came close to the last turn.
“I’m surprised you haven’t given up yet!” Jet taunted.
“Well that’s the thing, I never give up!” Sage snapped back as she swerved to the left a little, hitting the back of Jet’s board causing him to lose his balance and then turned sharply to the right as they got to the turn making her fly right in front of Jet almost causing him to fall off. As they came to the final stretch of the race, Sage was in the lead as the furious Jet was catching up. She could see Storm and Wave standing to the side of the red light, where they began at. She held her breath as she crossed the finish line as Jet flew past her in second place. They came to a stop and hopped of the Extreme Gear.
“How did you win?” a furious Jet demanded as he threw the device at Sage after she gave Wave her board back. Sage just shrugged her shoulders.
“No there has to be something because before we started you didn’t even know how to hold the gear correctly then you go and pull one of the hardest tricks that I know. So tell me!” he demanded.
“Simple…” Sage said “Video Games.”
