Friends
Has it really just been one day? Sage asked herself as she and the rest of the group sat at a large round table in what could be called a kitchen. Everyone was sipping on some coffee (except for Mephiles) but Sage couldn’t bring herself to drink any. She was still unable to believe that she was where she was and with who. But one thing she knew for some sure was that this was an alternative universe to the Mobius that she had heard of.
She looked up and saw that Tails was explaining the latest news with the others but she hasn’t been paying much attention until she heard her name spoken.
“-Yeah I found her up on Angel Island right after Eggman’s ship hit the island the night before. That’s why we came to you, Tails, because we know you’re the only one with the technology to find Eggman so Sage can rescue her friend and everything can go back to the way it was.” Knuckles finally finished and leaned back in his seat with his arms crossed. Tails nodded, Sage guessed, in agreement.
“Sure I don’t mind helping a friend. I’m sure my Chaos Emerald locator can find Eggman since he has acquired a few over the last couple of months.” He hoped down from his chair and went into a room in the far right of the kitchen. The sound of several things being knocked over and pushed around could be heard from where everyone was sitting. Then Tails appeared again with a small, hand-held device in his hands.
“Here,” Tails handed the emerald locator to Sage. “You can take this with you since I can’t tag along and if you need any help with the controls there’s a communicator built in so just call in whenever you need to.”
“Thank you.” Sage said as she gave him a hug and Tails hugged back of course with his divergent arms. So everyone decided to stay in Tails’ plane for the night since it was dangerous to venture out into the city after dark.
Sage for the first time after waking up on Angel Island could relax and maybe find rest in her hammock bed. The plane was quite crowded on the inside so this type of bed seemed convenient. But Sage just couldn’t bring herself to find any sleep.
*Eggman’s Ship*
Eggman was growing impatient with his captive. He had given him an answer that led to a dead end. He now had the boy in front of him again. J.J. was obviously exhausted from all the questioning and rants from Eggman. All of Robotnik’s efforts seemed to have gone down the drain, trying to find out what had happened to his well known enemy. The doctor was about to return to his computer when an alarm went off. “INTRUDER ALERT! INTURDER ALERT!” The alarms rang as the red warning lights were flashing.
“Pull up all security cameras now!” Eggman demanded the computer.
*Outside the subway station (next day)*
It was a cloudy morning as Sage, Knuckles, Silver, and Mephiles emerged from the subway. Everything seemed just the same as they left it the day before only with a few fires still burning in their trash cans. Then Knuckles walked up to Sage.
“Well, I have to get back to Angel Island and guard the Master Emerald.” He said with concern.
“But we will show you the way through the city.” Silver added pointing at himself and Mephiles. Sage looked up at the echidna as he nodded to the group and began to walk off towards where they came from.
“Thanks!” Sage called to Knuckles after a moment. He waved as he kept on waking and she waved back even though she knew he couldn’t see it. And with that the trio headed towards the closest Emerald signal which was about a kilometer outside the city.
Silver talked most of the way, which was better then the awkward silence and Sage didn’t mind listening.
“The city used to be the most populated city in the area.” Then he pointed to a small store front on the right of the street that they were walking on. “That was my favorite restaurant; they served the best sushi ever. I went there every week but of course Mephiles didn’t eat anything. He only went there to watch the other people’s reactions to the different selections there. His favorite is the squid.” He said the last part behind his hand which made Sage laugh a little.
“Yeah they just had the festival of the sun a few days before Sonic went all Erazor Djinn crazy. It has been the fifth festival that I have been to. Well.” He motioned to the forest in front of them. “Here we are.” Silver said.
“We cannot follow you any further.” Mephiles stated.
“What for?” Sage asked.
“Well I and mouth-less over here are kind of guides for travelers in this city so it’s our responsibility to stay here.”
“So thank you for helping me and maybe we may cross paths again and, until then good luck.” Sage said as she was about to head towards the forest. “No, good luck to you.” Silver replied as he teleported himself back to the city as Mephiles, in a dark fog followed close behind. And with that Sage looked down at the Chaos Emerald locator and began walking to the direction of the closest signal.
*20 minutes later*
It seemed weird to be by myself. After just one day I have almost been killed three times, which the number could rise soon. Speaking of that….
Sage’s ear twitch, which was an odd feeling compared to her human hearing. She heard a steady mechanical hum in the distance and it was getting closer. She began looking around nervously for the source of the sound and then the locator in her hand began to go off as the signal was coming closer. Then a convoy of Eggman’s robots burst through the foliage and started heading north on the path Sage was on. Then she noticed that one of the robots must have a Chaos Emerald! So she took chase after the line of machines.
She managed to stay up to speed with them but how was she going to be able to get the emerald from one of them. She came up beside the first one and jump on to it getting a firm grip. The robot didn’t seem to have noticed. She checked her locator if this robot contained the emerald but it was negative. She turned round to jump unto the next robot. She leaped and when she landed she lost her grip but clung on to the arm of the robot and she dropped the emerald locator. Now how am I going to find the emerald or Eggman? She thought to herself. She guessed that the robots were heading back to wherever Eggman is so she decided to just to ride in unnoticed. Just like in the Trojan War. She thought.
After a few minutes later, they were arriving at Eggman’s ship that had landed in a secluded field. As the robots approached the ship, a door lowered down for the little parade of robots. As soon as they entered into a hallway Sage jumped off and hides against the wall. She waits for the robots to disappear down the hallway before she moves. I have to find J.J. and get him out of here. There’s no telling what he’s been through. Sage goes through a series of hallways with several turns and passed numerous closed doors. Then as she rounded a corner she ran right in to an Eggbot. Then a deafening alarm sounded.
A/N: Looking back on these, just makes me sad and knowing that I could have done so much better

The correct way to write it would be: "(...) not one, but several lives".
Simple mistake. I'm really impressed by your introduction by the way, it's fantastic! I hope one day I'll write as well as you. The description built such a powerful and beautiful image in my mind, very See More poetic.
